The third morning began exactly like the others. Gabby's bedroom door remained closed. The tray Ms. Bennett had left outside the night before was still sitting untouched. Manuel sat in the dining room, picking at his breakfast as his thoughts slowly drifted to Gabby. Their marriage had never been built on love.
