Chapter Two: Submission

583 Words
The dressing room was silent when she returned, the heavy scent of winter frost, His cold aura lingering in the air. Sydney froze in the doorway, her hand dropping from the doorknob. He was sitting in the high-backed velvet chair by the hearth. Lord Luko did not occupy space the way normal men did; the shadows around him seemed to warp and bend, clinging to his immaculate black coat like a living cloak. His hair was the color of midnight, framing a face that was devastatingly beautiful yet utterly devoid of human warmth. He looked young, frozen in the perpetual prime of a god, but his eyes carried the weight of a thousand years. "You missed a note in the second act, little bird," Luko said. His voice was a low, resonant purr that vibrated directly against her spine, evoking an immediate, involuntary flush of heat beneath her skin. "The air was cold, my Lord," Sydney replied, keeping her eyes cast downward as she walked into the room. She approached him slowly, her knees weak, stopping exactly three paces away. It was the distance required by her contract. "The air was cold because I willed it so," Luko murmured, standing up. He moved with a terrifying, silent fluidity. Before she could gasp, he was standing directly in front of her. The sheer aura of his presence. the primordial Alpha dominance that defied classification, forced her to her knees. She didn't fight it. In his presence, her real-life submission was absolute. Luko reached down, his long, pale fingers hooking under her chin to force her face upward. His touch was freezing, yet it ignited a fierce, unwanted fire within her blood. His silver eyes searched hers, peeling back her defenses until she felt utterly naked. "You play the submissive queen beautifully on stage," Luko whispered, his thumb brushing against her crimson-stained lips, smearing the color. "But remember where your true allegiance lies. The theater is a playground. I am your reality." "I have not forgotten," Sydney whispered, her breath hitching as his fingers trailed down her jawline, stopping exactly where the invisible collar bound her soul to his. "I am yours by contract." "By contract, yes," Luko said, his silver gaze darkening with an intensity that bordered on feral. "But I want more than a signature in shadow, Sydney. I want the piece of you that you hide behind those scripts. I want the desire you pretend not to feel." Sydney bit her lip, leaning imperceptibly into his cold hand. It was a lethal addiction. She knew he was a monster, a being who commanded empires from the dark and terrified the very supernatural elite who ruled the upper world. Yet, the closer she got to him, the more the lines blurred. Was she acting when she looked at him with longing, or was the dark romance of her captivity becoming her only truth? "Why me, Luko?" she asked, the forbidden question slipping past her lips before she could stop it. "There are thousands of Omegas. Dozens of actresses. Why did you bind me?" Luko’s expression didn't change, but the shadows in the room flared, swallowing the firelight for a terrifying second. His grip on her chin tightened just enough to cause a throb of pain. "You are here to perform, little bird. Not to ask questions." He released her, turning his back to her as the shadows wrapped around him once more. "Clean yourself. The carriage is waiting. Your day belongs to me."
