Today was my twentieth birthday. I was pacing back and forth in front of the castle. I stopped pacing the moment I saw Sophia. I was waiting for her. Sophia was nothing but smiles. I was waiting for news about Father. Father did as he promised. He no longer comes and sees me because of Domina’s jealousy, but I get letters and gifts from him and Mira.
“Look what I have for the birthday girl!” Sophia said excitedly.
“What is it? I have been waiting for an entire year for my gifts,” I said, running toward her.
