Alpha Markus's POV:
I was in the middle of a conference when a mind-link came through of Valentina screaming, temple! My father jolted upright. He got the mind-link as well. My father and I ran out of the packhouse. I saw Obsidian and General Ezra running toward the temple in wolf form. My father and I shifted and took off. About two blocks from the temple, I saw Panda running down the street. He was screaming and crying. I shifted back and grabbed him. "What happened?" I asked in a panicked tone.
"Mommy...," Panda started.
My hands shot to my neck; my eyes went wide. The left side of my neck started to feel as if I were being scorched with a hot branding iron. I screamed out from the pain. "VALENTINA!" I was rolling along the ground as I clutched my chest. My father came beside me.
