Chapter 13Nicole Damn it! Wasn’t Texas supposed to be like some sort of desert, with tall cacti and bramble bushes and sand as far as the eye could see? It had been pouring for hours now, the highway flooded in spots, which made her thankful for a taller vehicle than the car she’d left behind. Visibility was terrible, the old windshield wipers making a horrible screeching sound as they jerked across the window, barely clearing space to see.
