HOPE AT LAST

The Incident

Chapter 2

After the prayer, he started by thanking his his son, George, for bringing joy into the family, he thanked him for making them proud, for building the family's reputation, for making them know that all the money they spent on him, were not in vain, for making them to know that having him as their only child was greater than those who has many children, for standing firm both morally and academically more than those whose parents were rich. After the appreciation and praiseful names, he decided to go straight to the point. He said that the reason for organizing the meeting, was to inform him about their quest for a grandchild, i.e for him to get married, since he was done with his education. George was not too surprised at the words of his father, because he has also taught of it. His mother, Maria, also advised him on the values of marriage. After the long time conversation, George thanked them and promised them that he would introduce a hardworking girl to them before the month ends.

Few days later, George traveled back to the capital city. He started his work the next day, and as usual, he did not have time to call or check up on anybody, because of the complex working activities. One day, as work was going on as usual, a sudden noise was heard outside the bank compound. Everybody inside the bank, including both the workers and the cleaners came out to know what was going on. When they rushed out they saw Engineer Benson, the bank owner in pool of blood, after he had collided with a truck in high speed. The manager, Mr. Mike, rushed in, collected his car keys, and quickly took him to the hospital. It was an emergency, and treatment commenced immediately.

When the doctor came out, she told Mr. Mike that he would be okay and it would take a long time before he would recover, but they needed an oxygen tube which was sold at the Fasdy and sons Medicine LTD, at their neighboring town. Mr. Mike had to call George to inform all the workers to close the bank, and retire to their various homes, and then rush to Fasdy and sons Medicine LTD and buy an oxygen tube. George quickly did as the manager had ordered and headed to the company. He bought it and rushed back to the hospital. When he got to the hospital, ran straight to the room, but unfortunately while running, he mistakenly collided with the doctor, she fell down and her eye glasses broke, making her not to see very well.

George, not knowing that she was the doctor apologized informally and continued running. It was when he got there and asked of the doctor that he realized what he has done.Without more explanation, he ran back to know whether she was still there. When he got there, he did not see her. After few minutes of search, he saw her in her office and apologized for not acknowledging her as the owner of the hospital and not apologizing formally the time he collided with her. The doctor, Mari was angry, but after few explanation she forgave him and then tried to fix her eye glass. And George, noticing her situation gave her a hand and then fixed the eye glass. She appreciated and rushed back to Engr. Benson room and continued with the treatment, with the oxygen tube and the help of her employees, while George and Mr. Mike, stayed outside the room. Engr. Benson was later admitted into an oxygen, still unconscious.

When it was night, the doctor advised them to be there till the next day, incase of any necessity that needs an urgent attention and also to look after the engineer. But Mr. Mike who was a familed man had to go home so as not to keep his wife and children worried. He then urged George to stay there and keep an eye on the engineer. He also went to a nearby store and bought food and fruits for him to keep himself busy till day break, and then he went home. It was 11:00 pm,and the doctor came back to the hospital to check up on everyone, if there was any problem or emergency. As everywhere was quite, she suddenly heard a loud noise. And the noise was coming from Engr. Benson's room, so she ran to that place to know what was going on. When she got there, she saw George on the floor holding his head, which was bleeding and his cloth socked with blood.
