KAEL I walked up and down my portion of the ballroom wing. The sound of my footsteps echoed off the marble and the silence. The ballroom gleamed with polished wood, golden trims, and velvet curtains fit for my rank. None of it mattered. All I could see was her. My mind was in a constant cyclone, coming back to the madness of the night before. I was standing in that hall the next second in the usual way. The following moment, something in me snapped.
