Chapter 2

Iris's Pov "Congratulations, you are going to have twins," the female doctor said with a smile. "Twins?" I asked in disbelief from my hospital bed. I wondered if I was mishearing her. How could I possibly be pregnant with twins? After I left the Emerald Bright pack's land, I started feeling sick. I threw up on the side of the road and kept getting dizzier. All the emotional stress had ruined my health, and even my inner wolf refused to speak to me. I had only gone to the doctor for a basic check-up, so I never expected to get the biggest surprise of my life. "Yes, twins," she confirmed. She pointed to the screen to show me the two tiny, innocent lives growing safely inside my stomach. Tears filled my eyes. It was true, I was really having twins. The doctor gave me a prescription, and I left the hospital feeling completely stunned. Without even thinking, I placed my hands over my belly and whispered, "Don't worry, my babies. Even if your daddy doesn't want you, mommy loves you very much. I will raise the two of you with everything I have." I sniffled. Holding my bags, I walked toward the bus station, but I had no idea where to go. The Emerald Bright pack was the only home I had ever known, and I had no family or relatives to help me. I was completely alone in this big world. Suddenly, I thought about Ethan again. It made my heart ache, and tears filled my eyes. Just as I was lost in my thoughts, a car crashed into a nearby tree with a loud, deafening bang on the empty street. Startled, I stared at the accident with wide eyes and ran closer to the car to check on it. The front of the car was completely crushed. Inside, there was only a middle-aged man in the driver's seat, and his head was bleeding heavily. "Oh, my goddess!" I gasped. I pulled out my phone to call an ambulance. But before I could do anything, the man crawled out of the car on his own and collapsed right at my feet. I quickly tried to catch him and hold him up, asking, "Sir, are you okay?" I helped him lean against the car. His powerful energy and scent proved that he was a werewolf and an Alpha. "Wait, I’ll call an ambulance," I said, starting to dial the number, but he grabbed my hand. "You’re Iris, right?" he asked, sounding deeply shocked. "How... how do you know?" I asked, my eyes widening. I was stunned that he knew my last name, since it had always been kept a secret from everyone. —------------------------------------- Six Years Later, Britain The coffee on the table sat untouched and had gone cold. I carefully pinned a lace dress onto a mannequin, making sure it fell perfectly to show off the curves and shape of the gown. It was the final touch on my project. Finally, I pulled back the curtain that split my room in half. "Wow..." Lola said, walking into the door. She stared at the long red gown with her mouth open and eyes wide in shock. "So this is the amazing piece you made in just two sleepless nights!" she said in awe, slowly walking into the room. "You are truly talented!" she exclaimed. I was the most famous fashion designer in the country. Models and celebrities wore my designs, and my clothes were featured on the runways of countless fashion shows. Because I was great at understanding exactly what people wanted to wear, I had become the youngest designer to reach the top of the industry, winning many awards and honors. "I wish I could wear it... I am so jealous of your talent!" Lola said loudly. I laughed quietly. Lola was a human and my assistant. "Did you come in here for a reason?" I asked, walking over to the sink to wash my face. After staying up the whole night, my back felt sore, and my eyes felt heavy. All I wanted was to close them for a little while. "Oh yes! I almost forgot about it. The kindergarten teacher just called!" she said excitedly and quickly. I froze in my tracks, completely forgetting how tired I was for a moment. "Don't tell me Wyatt and Leo did something bad at school again." Lola smiled at me nervously. "You should probably see for yourself. They are already back from kindergarten!" I rubbed my forehead, feeling exhausted. They were back after only one hour? What had my little troublemakers done this time? Six years ago, the moon goddess blessed me with twins, a son and a daughter named Wyatt and Leo. Having them in my life meant everything to me. To raise them and give them a bright future, I started working hard and decided to chase my dreams. With a three month belly, I left America and came to Britain. There, I continued my studies and worked hard toward my dream of fashion designing. During these years, I lived among humans and had absolutely no contact with the werewolf world. I blended in perfectly with regular people and focused entirely on raising my kids. However, my children were werewolves and not just any werewolves, they were Alphas. This brought its own unique set of challenges. Taking a deep breath, I left my room to find the two kids sitting at the dining table, happily eating cupcakes. Seeing them like that melted my heart. "Mommy!" As soon as they spotted me, they both jumped down from their chairs and ran to hug my legs. "Are you finally done with your work?" they asked together in their cute, childish voices. "Yes, and now I'm free until this weekend," I said, kneeling down in front of them kissing their cheeks. "Yay!" Leo hugged me tightly. "Mommy, you promised that we would be good until you finished your work, and then you’d take us for ice cream, right?" She reminded me excitedly. "Yes, but..." I paused and squinted my eyes at them. "It has only been one hour since you two left for kindergarten, and you're already back? I couldn't answer your teacher's call earlier. So tell me, what kind of trouble did you cause this time?" I crossed my arms over my chest and looked suspiciously at them, especially at Wyatt. "I didn't do anything," Wyatt said with a pout. "The teacher just gave us this note to give to you and told us to go home. We just did what she said," he explained, and Leo nodded her head to agree. Frowning, I took the letter from Wyatt's hand, stood up, and looked back and forth between the two of them suspiciously while opening it. Their cute and innocent eyes might have fooled other people, but I knew their mischievous behavior could challenge anyone. Shaking my head slightly, I began to read the letter: > "Miss Iris, this is a letter to inform you that you do not need to send Wyatt and Leo back to this kindergarten. In the past five days since they started attending, three teachers have resigned from their positions. I'm afraid we are not equipped to handle your children." "The teachers quit their jobs?!" I gasped and looked at Wyatt and Leo. "What exactly happened? Leo, you didn't pull pranks on the teachers, right?" I asked.
