My spirits soared as we pulled into the driveway. I’d missed my little buddy. Of course, Sam’s proposal contributed to my jubilant mood. I hadn’t actually doubted that he still loved me; nonetheless, his romantic gesture strengthened my self-confidence and warmed my heart. Sam rang the doorbell, and we both stood grinning ear to ear in anticipation of seeing Aiden again and hearing his unique spin on the events of his time away from us. Anton answered the door.
