You have guessed well,” Joyce said and handed the result to Mrs. Evelyn. “Wow! You have A1 in Mathematics, English and Biology,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “Yes, mum. I was not expecting that. It is only God's hands,” Joyce said. “You are right Dr. He deserves the glory,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “There is a massive success in WASSCE this year. We are lucky!” Joyce said. “You are lucky indeed,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “Mum, how was work today? Joyce said. “It was wonderful,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “Hope you also had a great sale?” Joyce said. “Yes Dr. How was schooling today?” Mrs. Evelyn said. “It was fine, but hectic,” Joyce said. “Sorry Dr. Hope you weren’t thinking about what transpired between us and the landlord in the morning,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “No mum. I have a very big God who is full of surprises,” Joyce said. “I love your words. I have prepared something for you to eat. Go indoors and serve yourself. I want to go to Mrs. Patience’s house,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “What for mum?” Joyce said. “I want to go and collect my debt,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “I wish you success mum,” Joyce said. “Amen,” Mrs. Evelyn said and walked away.     Soon Mrs. Evelyn reached Mrs. Patience's house. She knocked the door. “Who is there,” Mrs. Patience said indoors. “It’s Mrs. Evelyn,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “(Opens the door) Good afternoon Mrs. Evelyn. You can have your seat,” Mrs. Patience said. “Thank you ma. How are you today?” Mrs. Evelyn said. “I am fine, and you?” Mrs. Patience said “I am fine too. How is your husband?” Mrs. Evelyn said. “He is fine. Thanks for asking. Will you mind a glass of cold water?” Mrs. Patience said. “I won’t mind Dr. It is hot out there,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “Okay ma. Give me some seconds,” Mrs. Patience said and walked to her refrigerator. (Mrs. Patience handed a glass of cold water to Mrs. Evelyn) “Thank you ma,” Mrs. Evelyn said and sipped the water. “What is the motive for this visit ma?” Mrs. Patience said. “I need the money you borrowed from me some weeks ago. The landlord wants to collect his house rent,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “Mr. Kennedy knows how to pester. Actually, I have planned to come and give you the money tomorrow. Thank God you are here, you have saved me from transport fares,” Mrs. Patience said. “(Smiles) Is the money with you?” Mrs. Evelyn said. “Yes. Excuse me,” Mrs. Patience said and walked to the bedroom.     Soon, Mrs. Patience left the bedroom, holding ten thousand naira. “Here is the money,” Mrs. Patience said handling ten thousand naira bank notes to Mrs. Evelyn. “(Counts the money) ten thousand naira?” Mrs. Evelyn said. “Yes. I added an interest of 10% to the borrowed money,” Mrs. Patience said. “Wow! Thank you ma. I wasn’t expecting any interest,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “On a normal day, borrowed money yields interest,” Mrs. Patience said. “Mmm…, I will be expecting you in church on Sunday,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “I will be there ma,” Mrs. Patience said with smiles. “I want to be on my way now,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “Okay ma. Send my regards to Joyce, your daughter,” Mrs. Patience said. “Okay ma,” Mrs. Evelyn said and walked out.     However, Mr. Evelyn sees a friend on her way back home. “Hello!” a voice said from behind. “(Turns to the back) Mrs. Elizabeth, it’s you. Good afternoon ma,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “Good afternoon, Mrs. Evelyn. How have you been?” Mrs. Elizabeth said. “I have been fine oo. And you?” Mrs. Evelyn said. “I am also fine,” Mrs. Elizabeth said. “You have not been in church for Sundays,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “Yes ma. I have been very sick. Pastor Kelvin and some church workers have ceaselessly visited me for days,” Mrs. Elizabeth said. “I was not aware that you have been sick. Please pardon me. I think the pastor only disclosed the sickness to few workers,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “You are right Dr. The pastor has been coming in the company of members of the hospitality unit,” Mrs. Elizabeth said. “I see. How are you feeling now?” Mrs. Evelyn said. “I am feeling recovered and rebranded,” Mrs. Elizabeth said. “Glory be to God alone. Where are you coming from?” Mrs. Evelyn said. “I am coming from my husband’s office. I went to give him his lunch,” Mrs. Elizabeth said. “Good. How is he?” Mrs. Evelyn said. “He is fine. Where are you coming from?” “I am coming from Mrs. Patience's house?” Mrs. Evelyn said. “You have just remembered me. Mrs. Patience is among the few workers that have been persistent to checking my health state. I need to go and thank her,” Mrs. Elizabeth said. “That is not strange. Mrs. Patience is among the hospitality unit,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “You are right. What is the motive of going to Mrs. Patience’s house?” Mrs. Elizabeth said. “Well, she borrowed some money from me. So, I went to collect the money to solve emergencies,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “Okay, Mrs. Evelyn. How is Joyce?” Mrs. Elizabeth said. “She is fine. I also thank God that she made flying colors in her WASSCE result,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “Wow! That is wonderful. I hope she is fine?” Mrs. Elizabeth said. “Yes, she is fine. How are my children too?” Mrs. Evelyn said. “They are all fine. Send my regards to Joyce when you get home,” Mrs. Elizabeth said. “Okay ma,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “I want to be on my way now,” Mrs. Elizabeth said. “Alright ma. I will see you in church on Sunday,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “I won’t miss the service,” Mrs. Elizabeth said and walked away.     Soon, Mrs. Evelyn arrives home. Joyce has already started preparing the food. “Well done Joyce,” Mrs. Evelyn said, standing in front of Joyce. “Welcome mum,” Joyce said. “Thank you Dr. I didn’t know you will start cooking before I return,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “(Smiles) Did you see Mrs. Patience at home?” Joyce said. “Yes, I saw her. She has given me the money she owes me and even added interest,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “That is nice of her. She is God fearing, because even banks now charges one unnecessarily, rather than given dividend on an issued loan,” Joyce said. “You are right. She is a God sent. What are you preparing by the way?” Mrs. Evelyn said. “It’s rice,” Joyce said. “Okay Dr. I want to go and take nap indoors,” Mrs. Evelyn said. “No problem mum. Once the food is done, I will call upon you,” Joyce said. “Okay,” Mrs. Evelyn said and walked away.
