Kael woke up to the sound of gentle breathing. He turned to see Lyra sleeping peacefully on the couch, a soft smile on her face. She must have stayed up to keep an eye on Astrid and Cormac.
Kael's heart swelled with affection for Lyra. He carefully got up and walked over to the couch. He scooped Lyra up in his arms, cradling her like a child. She stirred slightly, but didn't wake up.
Kael carried Lyra to her bedroom and gently laid her down on the bed. He pulled the covers up to her shoulders and tucked her in, making sure she was comfortable.
With Lyra taken care of, Kael made his way to the kitchen. He decided to whip up some pancakes and bacon. The aroma of sizzling meat and freshly baked pancakes filled the air, making Kael's stomach growl with anticipation.
Just as Kael finished cooking, the other three woke up. Astrid's eyes lit up as she caught sight of the food. "Oh, food!" she exclaimed, rushing over to the table.
Cormac cautioned her, "Astrid, be careful. You're still recovering."
Kael dished Astrid a plate and asked, "Are you feeling better?"
Astrid took a bite of the pancake and moaned in delight. "Yes, I'm fine. It's normal for me to be weak after trying to counter Eira's spell."
Lyra walked into the kitchen, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. Astrid called out to her, "Lyra, come try this! It's amazing!"
Lyra collected her plate from Kael and took a bite. Her eyes widened in surprise. "Wow, this is incredible! Did you pay a chef to cook it?"
Kael chuckled, pretending to be offended. "How dare you! I'm flattered, but I think a 250-year-old vampire can manage to cook a simple breakfast."
The room fell silent, with all three of them staring at Kael in shock.
"250?" they exclaimed in unison.
Lyra's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "You don't look 250."
Kael smiled, his fangs glinting in the morning light. "Of course not. I don't age. I'm a vampire."
Lyra stood there, looking shocked, and Kael laughed. "Glad I made you speechless."
Kael saying ofcourse I don't age I'm a vampire and lyra stood there looking shocked and kael saying glad I made me speechless while he laughs and astrid and Cormac continued talking Eating their foods while lyra asking kael if he carried her to her room and him saying who else would and lyra saying thank you in a mean way and adding how she Wakes up in any weird place she sleeps in her house and kael saying are u saying u want me here more often to carry you to your bed every night and lyra saying what rolling her eyes and walking away while kael says that's not a no while laughing.
The four of them arrived at the Raven's Den, where a meeting was already in session. The atmosphere was tense, with many of the citizens looking worried and frightened.
Professor Nightshade stood at the front of the room, his eyes scanning the crowd. "My dear citizens, I know many of you are concerned about the recent attack. But I assure you, we have taken measures to ensure our safety."
He paused, his eyes locking onto Eira, who stood at the side of the room. "Eira and her fellow witches have cast a powerful protective spell around Ashwood. No one will be able to leave or enter our town without our knowledge."
Lyra pushed her way to the front of the room, her eyes fixed intently on Professor Nightshade. "Professor, I need to tell you something," she said, her voice rising above the murmur of the crowd.
But Professor Nightshade held up a hand, silencing her. "Not now, Lyra. You're young and inexperienced. This is not a matter for you to concern yourself with."
Lyra's face flushed with annoyance, but she refused to back down. "But Professor, we found out the name of the town where the attackers are from. It's Valtoria."
Professor Nightshade's expression turned stern. "Enough, Lyra. You are here by choice, not because you are meant to be. Know your place and be quiet."
Eira's eyes sparkled with malice as she spoke up. "It's about time someone shut that bear up. I bet it was her friend, that little witch, who tried to block me last night. And I'm shocked she survived."
Lyra's eyes flashed with anger, and she turned to walk away. Astrid followed close behind, her eyes fixed on
Astrid caught up to Lyra, pulling her into a quiet corner of the room. "Lyra, calm down," she said, her voice soft and soothing.
Lyra's eyes were brimming with tears, her face red with anger. "What does he mean? He has no right to pull that card!" she exclaimed, her voice shaking.
Astrid's expression turned stern. "Pull yourself together, Lyra. You're Lyra Blackwood. You always get what you want."
Lyra sniffled, wiping her nose on her sleeve. Astrid's words seemed to sink in, and Lyra's expression turned determined.
"Right," Lyra said, her voice firming up. "We'll take down the Valtorians, no matter what."
Astrid smiled, a fierce glint in her eye. "Together, we will."
The two friends hugged, their bond stronger than ever. They stood there for a moment, holding each other tightly, before finally letting go.
Unbeknownst to them, a figure watched from the shadows outside. Thane, a member of Lyra's pack, had been listening in on their conversation. His eyes narrowed, his expression thoughtful
The scene faded to black, the sound of Thane's footsteps echoing in the distance as he slipped away into the night.
