Chapter 5: Moonlight Encounter

601 Words
The moon cast its silvery glow over the landscape, illuminating the figures of Lyra and Astrid as they stood watch in their designated position. Lyra, in her werewolf form, was a vision of beauty, her piercing green eyes shining like emeralds in the moonlight. Her fur, a rich, dark gray, seemed to ripple and shine with a life of its own, as if the moon's rays were dancing across its surface. Astrid, standing beside her, couldn't help but gaze at Lyra in awe. "You look stunning, Lyra," she whispered, her eyes shining with admiration. "I'm so glad we're partners tonight." Lyra, still in her werewolf form, smiled, her tail wagging slightly as she gazed at Astrid. The two friends chatted quietly, discussing everything from their daily lives to their thoughts on the mysterious Cormac. Astrid leaned in, a mischievous glint in her eye. "So, Lyra, what do you think of Cormac? He's pretty attractive, don't you think?" Lyra rolled her eyes, her tail twitching with amusement. "Astrid, focus. We're on duty here." Astrid chuckled. "Oh, come on, Lyra. I'm just trying to get your opinion. You have to admit, he's pretty hot." Lyra sighed, shaking her head. "Astrid, you're impossible. Let's just focus on our job, okay?" Just as Astrid was about to respond, a rustling noise came from the nearby bushes. Lyra and Astrid immediately stood up, their senses on high alert, ready to defend themselves if necessary. As they watched, a figure emerged from the shadows. Lyra's eyes narrowed, her fur standing on end as she recognized the mysterious rude stranger from earlier that day. With a swift movement, Lyra transformed back into her human form, her eyes blazing with anger. "Astrid, this is the rude man who pushed me earlier today!" Kael smirked, his eyes glinting with amusement. "I have a name, you know." Lyra's eyes flashed with annoyance. "And you are...?" Kael's smirk grew wider. "I am Kael. And you, my dear werewolf, are quite the surprise." Astrid stepped forward, her eyes shining with curiosity. "What brings you here, Kael? And what do you want with Lyra?" Kael's smirk grew wider. "Ah, I finally know the name of the feisty werewolf who's been giving me a hard time. Lyra, right?" Lyra's eyes narrowed. "What do you want, Kael?" Kael chuckled. "I got lost, to be honest. I'm new in town, and I was exploring. But I have to say, I'm intrigued by what you two are doing here this late at night. What's a couple of nice girls like you doing in a place like this?" Astrid smiled sweetly. "We're from the Raven's Den." Kael's expression turned attractive confused. "The Raven's Den? What's that?" Lyra rolled her eyes. "We're protectors of Ashwood, okay? And we're in our assigned positions tonight. So, leave us alone and go." Kael smirked, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Oh, I'm shaking in my boots. Astrid, is your friend always this rude?" Astrid laughed. "Actually, Lyra's being pretty tame tonight." Kael's eyes sparkled with interest. "Raven's Den, huh? I think I'll have to check it out. Maybe even join." Lyra's eyes flashed with disdain. "They'll never accept you." But at the same time, Astrid exclaimed, "Yay! You're welcome to join us!" The two girls exchanged looks, Lyra's expression disbelieving and Astrid's sparkling with amusement. Kael laughed, his eyes glinting with triumph. "I'll take that as a challenge. Nice meeting you, Lyra. Astrid." He bowed low, his smirk still plastered on his face. "I'll see you both around." With that, Kael walked away, laughing to himself, leaving Lyra and Astrid to exchange exasperated glances.
