Katy and Gary spent time getting to know each other but only over text. Katy still refused to see Gary outside of work, she was scared. Scared of being hurt again , her heart was shattered not only by her ex but by Gary betraying her trust. Yes she slept with Jake but at least she told Gary and not hid it. It was one mistake thought Katie, One night not months. She could feel her body getting hot again from anger. She counted to ten and took a deep breathe in and exhaled. She remembered that she was supposed to be forgiving and forgetting to help them progress.

Gary was getting impatient with Katy for not seeing him , he understood through summer because they were both so busy with work. Working long shifts and finishing late at night. Winter was approaching and Katy still hadn’t seen Gary. Gary had an idea and texted Katy,

To Katy

Be ready for 7 , I’m coming to pick you up and take you somewhere but wrap up warm.

Gary didn’t get the response he wanted , Katy was reluctant but still agreed to it. Seven o’clock rolled round and Gary was waiting for Katy outside her house. She got into the car and Gary handed her a bunch of flowers, he was so excited to be able to take Katy on her first date. Katy couldn’t even look Gary in the eyes, she was angry that he had booked this date and paid for it before she had agreed. She had no option but to go , she felt like she was forced to go.

Gary had booked tickets to go to the illuminated forest. The forest was always decorated in twinkling lights during the Christmas period. There were different sites to see , there were hanging cages with holographic fairies in , a huge tree that you could write and tie your Christmas wish to. Katy had already been to this place with her family the week previous so she knew what to expect. The average time to get around the whole forest was two hours if you take in all the sites . It took Katy and Gary forty five minutes, Katy had practically ran around the forest. Gary sensed she was still mad, they drove back to Katy’s in silence. Katy got out the car and Gary wished her a good night.

Things had been off for a few days. Gary didn’t want to push Katy further away so gave her space when she didn’t want to talk.

The most important date in the diary, Gary turned up outside Katy’s which was unusual. He would never show up unannounced, he knocked on the door. Katy answered and there stood Gary with a bunch of red roses in one hand and a teddy in the other.

“Will you be my girlfriend” the words escaped Gary’s mouth.

Katy looked at him in shock, she could feel the blood rush to her cheeks

“Yes !” She replied.
