chapter sixteen

Lucas lay comfortably sprawled out on my bed, pillows stacked under his head. He was reading one of my fashion magazines. What the hell? How the hell did he get in here?

I mentally kicked myself when i remembered that i left the window open. Of course he climbed in. I took a deep breath, trying to control my nerves and anger. I felt weird standing in my room in nothing but a towel wrapped around me and Lucas lying down comfortably on my bed, without a care in the world.

" What the hell are you doing in my room?" I asked calmly although i was anything but calm.

"You've been in my room before. Just returning the courtesy."

"Get out or i'll scream."

Lucas smiled at me, unfazed. "Seriously Maury? OK." He sat up. "Let's play out a scenario. You scream. You aunt comes rushing in here. She has the shock of her life. The suspicious wheel of her head starts turning and....." His voice trailed off. "You know the rest."

"I'll say you broke in."

"And i'll say you let me in. You left your window open Maury. That's obviously an invitation. I couldn't have come in otherwise. Who'll she believe?"

"But....but....." I couldn't think of anything to say. "She trusts me....she'll believe me." Or will she?

"Your credibility is going downhill once i tell her about the night you spent in my room."

Lucas watched as the color drained from my face. He was enjoying this all too much. Why the hell was he tormenting me?

"You have no proof."

"Common Love. The pill is enough."

"I'll deny its mine."

"Well Kathy's aunt is a nurse who works in the only hospital around town in possession of that particular rare d**g. Your aunt's a smart lady. She'll put two and two together and then you'll be grounded for life. So i suggest not to think about screaming and put a cork in it."

"Urgh! You're the devil!"

He winked at me. I stared at him and he stared back. For a while we were engaged in a staring contest. When it got uncomfortable i broke the silence.

"You're really good at this blackmailing business aren't you?"

"Yup. Take joy in it." He grinned.

"I hate you!"

"No you don't Maury. I know you're secretly trilled to have me here love."

"Like hell! In case you don't know Lucas you're definitely not my type."

"Is that right."

"Yes."

To my horror he sprang up. I took a step back and several as he advanced towards me, until i hit the wall. The was no space for escape as he crowded me in. What the hell is he up to?

"What do you want?" I chocked out. I hated how weak i sounded. I could not think clear with him standing so close. "This isn't right Lucas. You shouldn't be here."

"Oh its exactly right." He said placing his hands on the wall on either side of my head, trapping me in.

"Can you not like....stand so close?"

"I'm comfortable here Maury."

"Well i'm not!"

"Why? Do i make you nervous?"

This was beginning to look like the scene from my dream. Tingles ran through me as he drew closer. He bent his head to whisper in my ear.

"Do i?"

"Yes." I admitted shamefully.

Surprised, he pulled back to look at me, a triumphant smirk on his face.

"So um...can you please leave? I'm wearing only a towel here". I pleaded.

Oh why? I wished the ground would open up and swallow me. Why couldn't i be bold? A strange look crossed his face, as if just then realising something. His gaze raked over me as an intense look came into his eyes. I felt my face heating up under his scrutiny. And thankfully he pulled back, but only by an inch. My nerves kicked up again as his hand left that wall to stroke my cheek, wiping off the drop of water that was trailing down it. What the hell is he doing?

The smirk was completely gone now. Why was he looking at me like that? He bent his head closer to my face. Oh my god! Was he going to kiss me? I wasn't prepared for this. I'd never been kissed before. I stood rooted to a spot as his lips came down, stopping only an inch from mine, his breath fanning my face. I held my breath. Conflicting emotions ran through me. I wanted him to stop and at the same time i didn't want him to. What is up with me? The voice telling me i didn't want this won out and i regained composure of my self. My knee jerked up, hitting him where the sun doesn't shine.

"What the hell Maury!" Lucas groaned, pain etched on his face. He held his groin as he crumbled to the ground.

Perhaps a bit too much.

"Oops! Sorry i.... It's your fault. You wouldn't step back."

"You really do hate me don't you." He looked at me with hurt filled eyes.

The look pierced my heart. Of course i didn't hate him. He's just so stubborn! I only needed breathing space and he wasn't giving me any of it. It was the only thing i could think of to get him to move away. Then suddenly anger filled me when i remembered how he had turned my aunt against me and how he shouldn't be in here in the first place.

Just then there was a knock on the door. Oh God! I didn't lock it! We both turned to the door in dread. Lucas sprang up immediately rushing to the window but not quickly enough as the door flew open. The knocker was not patient enough to receive an answer before barging in. I stared in horror, but to my utmost relief it was only Kathy. I wasn't relieved for long as I watched her take in the scene, a bewildered look on her face.

"What the..." She began in surprise, daintily closing the door behind her. "What is going on here?" She whispered.

Lucas seeing that it was only Kathy smiled sheepishly, running his hand through his hair. "See you later love." He winked at me. "Let's continue this some other time shall we?"

He got out through the window. Urgh! What the hell is wrong with that boy? Only a moment ago he stared in dread at the door, how did he manage to control himself so quickly? And what the hell did he mean by that implied statement. The i***t!

Goodness knows what thoughts were running through Kathy's head.

"Maury!" She shrieked, bringing me out of my daze. The look on her face was priceless. "How long has this been going on?"

"I swear Kathy. Its definitely not what you think".

Kathy composed herself and stamped to sit on the bed. "Explain."

Oh my. I had a lot of explaining to do.
