chapter eleven

I told Kathy about the party. Turned out she was even less excited than I was. It was unusual. Her face scowled up when i mentioned that it was Pip who wanted her there.

"The i***t". She seethed. "He probably just wants to humiliate me". Suddenly she turned to me. "I can't believe you let me sleep on him".

"Let you?" I didn't understand.

"He won't let me live it down. I'm sure he invited me to keep rubbing it in my face."

I wondered why Kathy was angry. I had never seen her get so worked up over a boy before. Well mostly because she was stunning most boys wanted to please her. They acted hypnotized around her. Well I guess Pip and Lucas were immune to the whole hypnosis stuff.

"Look Maury" she sighed. "it's best to stay away from those boys."

"What did you mean when you said Pip won't let you live it down?"

She avoided eye contact with me. This only happens when she's embarrassed about something. She was definitely hiding something from me.

"Kathy what are you not telling me?" She bent her head, not saying anything. This sparked my curiosity. "Kathy!"

"What?" She finally looked up at me.

"What happened with Pip?"

"Nothing." She answered quickly. Too quickly.

that's it! I'm definitely getting the news out of her!

After much probing she finally gave up keeping it a secret.

"It's really no big deal... It's just... " Her eyes kept darting left and right. Her face all red. I had never seen Kathy this embarrassed. She looked like she would explode any moment. I almost decided to have mercy on her and tell her to forget about telling me, but her unease made me all the more curious.

"You see..." she went on. "You know the night school I teach at.. "

"Yeah?"

"I saw Pip there."

"He goes to a night school?"

"No, his uncle does. God that guy is a pain in the a*s, just like his nephew. Do you know he refuses to listen to anything i...."

She was trailing off the subject. I knew what Kathy was up to. She always did that when she wanted to get out of sharing an information.

"Uh Kathy...we're talking about Pip remember?"

"Yeah, well the thing is, he came to pick up his uncle and you should have seen the stir he created. Some stupid teenage girls wouldn't stop giggling and staring at him. It disrupted my class. We were both surprised to see each other there. And then he got all assholish and smirked at me, calling me skinny. Can you believe it! In presence of my class. It was so embarrassing. Well he waited for me after class."

"He did what!?"

"Yeah he did Maury. Now stop interrupting or i won't continue".

I couldn't let that happen. "Never! Continue please".

"He cornered me and said we had unfinished business."

"What business? " l murmured.

Just then she turned fiercely on me. "It's all your fault. You're the one who came up with that stupid plan about seducing the boys. It's not like you even did anything with Lucas. You just stood there like a dummy. I had to do all the work. "

"What has that got to do with...."

"If you hadn't then I wouldn't have flirted with Pip and then we wouldn't have led them upstairs and we wouldn't have passed out and....."

She was rambling again. I had to get her back on track. No way was she getting out of telling me the story.

"I get it!" I said cutting her short. "So what happened?"

"Uh..." She feigned confusion. Nice try Kathy.

"What happened after he cornered you?"

"He uh...said i....somehow he got to know we played a game on them and he uh got so close and pinned me up on the wall... " Her face was flaming red. "And uh...." I held my breath. "He then leaned closer and whispered in my ear that I got him all hot and bothered with trying to seduce him and I had to do something about it."

"What!" I chocked out.

"And that's pretty much it."

"Uh?" I could tell she was hiding something with the way she was avoiding my eyes again. "Spill!"

"What?....that's all."

"You can be a good actor but I know you too well and i can tell when you're lying."

"Fine." she sighed.

"So...?" I probed.

"He said two can play the game."

"He what?"

"Yeah he did."

"And...?"

"And he uh...kissed me."

"What?!" I definitely wasn't expected that. "That's so hot." I choked out.

"Hot? It's embarrassing. I should have pushed him away but I couldn't move. I mean anyone could have walked in on us. I've kissed boys before but I was always in control. I just stupidly let him kiss me for long. I don't even know how long till he pulled away. Even then i couldn't move and then he simply smirked and walked away. I hate him!"

I burst out laughing, surprising Kathy. She didn't find it amusing at all.

"You think it's funny?" she glared.

"Yeah.." I said in between laughs.

Kathy had a habit of playing with boys, leading them on and leaving them hanging. She had dated about two or three guys but nothing serious. She lost interest easily. She would see a good looking guy and be like "he's so hot" and do something to get his attention. It wasn't that hard with the way she looked. And as soon as the attention is caught she lost interest. She never let anyone get too close and was used to playing with boys' feelings. She had one time played with a popular and notorious playboy then dumped him. It was a game to her. She went after hot playboys to make them fall in love with her and they always did and then she dumped them. It wasn't that hard. She hardly developed real feelings. It was like she was closed up emotionally. I always wondered why. But now she had met her match with Pip. The boys were definitely trouble and too good looking for their own good. But I still had to get Kathy to go to the party. Lucas had the pill. I told her about it and she was crestfallen.

"Do we really have to?"

I noticed how down she looked. Pip really scare the s**t out of her. She was definitely attracted to him and she hated it. She told me how the boys saw us as a challenge because we weren't falling head over heels like most girls. She was pretty sure that was the reason Pip pulled that stunt of kissing her.

"You think you have it embarrassing. What about me?" I said "I have to see Lucas again."

"What do you mean. It's not a chore. You see him everyday. You live right next to each other."

"I mean i have to be close to him."

"So...? not like you did anything with him. I'm the one always having the embarrassing moments with Pip. First trying to seduce him, then falling asleep on him and then the kiss. I've had it worse!"

To make her feel better I told her about the dream. She would not stop squealing. Yeah it's exciting when the joke's not on you.

"Oh my God Maury. You definitely have it worse!"

"See?"

"You mean you had a wet dream about Lucas?"

What?

"It wasn't exactly a wet dream. Common only boys have wet dreams."

"Girls do too!"

"Nothing happened. It's not like we had s*x in it."

"But he thinks so."

"Oh my God. I'm definitely screwed". I said running my hand over my face in frustration.

"And he heard you calling out his name. And you told him about it?"

"I didn't. He figured it out."

"Of course. The fuckboy."

I burst out laughing.

"They're both assholes Maury. It's best to stay away from them."

"Yeah, but first we need that pill."

"Well how do we get it?"

A plan was already forming in my head. Kathy noticed the mischievous glint in my eyes and sighed.

"Common Maury, not another stupid plan that'll get us in trouble."

"Don't worry Kathy. we'll get them this time." I said rubbing my palm together and smiling evilly.

Dramatic? I know.
