chapter two

I could not take it anymore. The party had started around nine the previous night till this morning and it did not look like it was ending anytime soon. Unless i did something about it! It wasn't a school day. Sure. So what? I rapped angrily on the door and it was opened by a very good looking boy with a face cap on backwards. Brown curls underneath it. Eyes sparkling mischievously. He took in my traditional Indian outfit and smirked, eyebrows raised. "Indian uh? " He commented. I suddenly had the urge to wipe that annoying smirk off his face. Not i dressed like this often. I was doing a video for my blog and the concept was to dress like this. I just did not think of changing before coming over here. It was obviously a mistake. "Is.. Uh... Mr Donnovan home? " I asked ignoring his statement and trying to see into the house at the commotion going on in there. Of course i knew Mr Donnovan wasn't in. He was hardly ever at home. But i would never acknowledged Lucas' existence. Why? I wondered. It wasn't like he did anything to me. Except of course making sure i could not read for the entry exams with his constant parties. 'Donnovan uh. Which one? " The face cap boy said leaning on the door frame. As cocky as can be. The smirk still plastered on his face. "The owner of this house. Mr Donnovan" "No". He answered. Then... "Wanna join us? " "No". I answered sharply, receiving an amused frown from the boy. "Who the hell is in charge?" He stared, puzzled at me for a while then burst out laughing. "Its a party not a fricking military camp" "I don't care. Who is? " Just then the cause of my problems appeared behind him. Lucas himself. As large as life and as gorgeous as ever. I inwardly chided myself not to think about him like that. "What's up Pip? " He said, flinging his arm across the face cap boy's shoulders. Then his gaze settled on me and he was surprised. No doubt i was the last person he expected to find on his doorstep. Then he smirked. For the life of me i could not understand what it was with these boys and smirking. I had to admit though, it wasn't everyday i see two hot looking boys whose pictures belonged in the cover of a fashion magazine. But i refused to be intimidated by them. So what if they were good looking? "Just miss India here wants to know who's in charge". Pip mocked, stifling laughter. My earlier question had definitely amused him. "Sup love". Lucas said, smirk never leaving his face. Did he just call me 'love'? Like father like son. Yes. The Donnovans were trouble and it was best to stay away from them. But first i came here for something. Hopefully my mission would be successful and he would reduce the rate at which he threw his parties. Reduce! That's it. Sure, it wasn't too much to ask. " The name's Maury". I said "Sure love". What the hell? Alright! I've had it! "Maury. Not love. And please i came to tell you to reduce the noise over here. Some people are trying to study". Lucas and Pip looked at each other for a while, then burst out laughing. When they saw that i was deathly serious they stopped. "Aww man... She wasn't kidding". Pip said "Hear that mate? She wants us to stop". Lucas said in a clear, sophisticated British accent. It surprised me. I had no idea he was British. Mr Donnovan didn't have that accent. I decided that Lucas had probably been born there. But i wasn't going to be deterred by his sexy British accent. "I'm trying to study!" I seethed. " No can do nerd". Lucas said. What the hell? What sort of annoying blockhead is this? And did he just call me a nerd? Suddenly Pip started singing Miley Cyrus' song. He had such an amazing voice. "We cant.....stop. We wont stop... " Then Lucas joined him. "Cant you see its we who bought the light..." He had an amazing voice too. Who the hell were these boys? Why do they have such nice voices? Were they rock stars? One thing was certain. They were definitely clowns. " Listen Lucas or whatever you call yourself... " " She knows my name" Lucas said surprised. "Surprising, considering the fact that you haven't spoken a word to me since i moved here" " And why should i have done that? " " We're neighbours" " Neighbours uh? You're definitely not neighbourly. Neighbours don't keep each other awake at night". I snorted. " Wow love, is that a confession?" He said in mock surprise. Then turned to his friend. "I had no idea thoughts of me keep her awake at night". They both burst out laughing. Wait what! This infuriated me. But i decided to control my temper. " If you don't reduce the noise I'm filing a complaint". I threatened. Even to me it sounded like an empty threat. The boys stared at me for a while. Clearly amused. "Sure love. Go ahead. But i hope you remember that saying". "What saying? " I asked stupidly, hating myself as soon as the words came out. " If you cant beat em.... Join em. You know, you should join us". Lucas said suggestively, giving me a once over. "Could probably help you loosen up". Then he added conspiratorially. "Don't worry. I won't tell your aunt". What the hell was this boy on? That was definitely an offensive statement. Help me loosen up? Did he think i was one of those sluts who hung around him? I couldn't take it anymore. "you know what? Screw you! " I turned around to head back. " Gladly". Lucas called after me. He and Pip hooted laughter, closing the door. "Urgh!" I slammed the door shut. Aunt Mary was definitely right about Lucas. It was best to stay away from boys like that. He and his friend Pip seemed like bad boy players. What the hell? They definitely were bad boy players. I made it a point of duty to ignore them from then hence forth. But boy did i have another think coming. The boys decided then not to leave me alone. I should have minded my business like i always did, acting like he did not exist. But no. I had to stupidly go and try to stop a party that i had known all along i could not. Who could blame me? I had hoped against hope that Lucas would be reasonable. And now Lucas Donnovan knew that i knew of he existed. He had become a total nuisance and trouble maker. I was not going to be a baby and report him to my aunt. Mostly because i knew she would take it too far. Already she hated the Donnovans. I decided to handle it like an adult. Cause after all i was eighteen. An adult! I even got my driver's license.
