CHAPTER FORTY
There was calm. Complete and utter silence descended about them. One by one, all of the lights from the alien universe winked out, leaving them in darkness on the plateau.
Eva reached for her daughter, gripping her tiny hand in her own. If this was the end, at least the people she cared for most were nearby. If only she could hold Madden, the end would be worth it. But there was no way of seeing him. Darkness had never been so complete.
