“ Wow nice rooms they got here “ Buddy made his way on top of the bed which I won over a bet with Noah and now he has to sleep on a single bed whilst me and Buddy are sleeping on a king sized bed, his loss. The room was painted in a lighter shade of grey and the floor was made up of wooden laminate and the windows let in most of the room’s light. This is what I would call luxury. The missing of home still left a hole in my heart in the past week but it started going away since I had Noah. He may seem that he doesn’t care but when you get to know him he can be one of the kindest and most genuine people on earth. I would class him as a best friend now if i'm being honest to you but i don’t know if he would either. So I asked. “Hey Noah.”
“ Yes? “
“ Would you class me as your best friend? “
“ What? No “
“ Aww come on just admit it, without me you would be lost. “ He stared at me for a moment and grinned. “ Maybe, but i won’t tell you. “
“ Now that’s just unfair. “
“ Oh well, I will only answer if you give me the bed. “
“ No chance “
“ Ok then, I'm not telling. “ Then that was the end of that conversation.
I continued to look around a little more before trying the bed, i jumped on it and it was so soft my heart stopped as i thought i would go straight through it. To this shock Buddy moved out the way and the rebound from it tipped me backwards and landed my head safely onto the fluffy pillows. The jealousy in Noah’s face rose as he jumped on his bed and hurt his back in the attempt. I needed a shower. Slowly walking into the other room that was connected at least 4 metres away from where my bed was sitting, the light automatically came on and there it was, the shower was huge and had plenty of space to throw a small party in it. All to myself. Well besides from the fact that Noah and Buddy need to use it too… Then it’s all to myself. Shutting the door behind me and making sure that it’s locked, I turned on the shower knob and steam had risen up in the bathroom. I stepped in and realised how much i missed being clean and having washed clothes brought up to me by my mother and the scent of softner that she would use. Pushing those thoughts out of my mind I stayed in the shower until Noah could no longer wait to go to the toilet. Everything was perfect. Too perfect to make me comfortable about what we might have to be doing tomorrow and what Michael mentioned what he needed us to do. What did he mean by saying that we could cure the virus? We can’t just touch people on the arm and say that they are cured. That’s impossible. The sound of wheels were brought to my ears when I came closer to the door. The sound of words were leaving 2 peoples mouths. A man and a woman. One of them sounded like Jo and the other a lot like Michaels. Pulling the door handle gently enough so that nobody knew that I was eavesdropping on their conversation, the voices got louder and louder the closer as they got to our room. Just a peek. That’s all. “ It’s not right Michael”
“ What’s not right Jo? I’m trying to save us here. “
“ But killing 2 innocent kids because they are immune is not right, even if it means saving the world. “
“ You don’t understand! I need their blood and bone marrow. I’ve been researching this ever since it first started. I know what i’m doing. “
“ I don’t understand? I’m the one that found you in that prison with you on the floor begging for me to let you out. So I did. “
“ Look Jo, let's not make it harder than it should be. They came to us anyways! They were willing to ask for my help and tell me that they were immune. At least now we don’t have to look for them, they came to us for our help so here we are. Now drop the discussion. “
“ Yes sir. “
I can’t let this happen. I have to tell Noah. Slowly shutting the door, I ran straight to the bathroom where Noah was still and knocked on the door. “ Noah, we have to go. We can’t stay here. It’s not safe! “
“ Wait one second “ The bathroom door unlocked and there he was with a towel wrapped around his waist, “ You were saying? “ The calmness of his face slowly started to calm me down enough that i could finish off what i was saying.
“ They want to kill us because we are immune. “ The words trailed out of my mouth believing for a second that all of this wasn’t real and I was back in my bed at home dreaming and when I woke up everything would be back to normal.
“ Who does? “ At this point I really wouldn’t have minded slapping him around the face.
“ Michael does. Who else do you think? “ Ok I admit i really want to punch him in the face.
“ Let me just get my clothes on then and then we can get out of this place, sound fair? “ The door closes in front of my face. Scurrying over to the bed I pack my things and take some of the new clothes I was given shortly after I had finished my shower along with the new hairbrush which was also included with the clothes. The draft next to me signified that Noah was standing beside me and watched me get my things ready. After I had finished doing what I needed Noah got his bag ready with Buddy on his lead and led us out the door.
The hallways we passed were different at night, you didn’t know what was coming around the corner. The old, damaged lights did nothing to light our pathway and the large, round windows didn’t help either as it was night time. Noah grabbed my hand to make sure that we stuck together and tiptoed further along. That wasn’t the strangest part, it was quite easy to get outside the rooms and the doorway to the wall was empty but what if there was nothing wrong and I was just being paranoid? Until suddenly something wrapped around my waist, I looked down to see an arm gripping onto my stomach and pulling me forward. It was Noah’s. I could tell because of the tattoo on his arm which was the shape of angel wings, it was a beautiful piece of art and clearly meant something to the man because when I asked him about it he changed the question and when I asked again he wouldn’t talk to me for an entire day. “ RUN! “ he screamed as the doors that were open were slowly shutting. I listened. I ran as fast as my legs would take me with Noah running with Buddy to make sure that I didn't fall behind. He knew that running was my weakness. He could have ran ahead and left me behind but he didn’t. He stayed to make sure that we both came into this place and left it together. The gate was almost closed and I had made it out but Noah was still behind. “ COME ON NOAH! I NEED YOU TO RUN FASTER! “ I can’t lose him, he will make it to the gate on time. Listening to the words of wisdom I had just given him, his pace became quicker and quicker with me reaching my arms out until he ran into them with the gate shutting a second after his pass into my arms and hugged me. “ Thank god you made it, “ Looking at each other I pushed myself away, “ Come on we have to keep moving. “
