AcknowledgementsEvery book grows from the love and labour of many, and a first book especially so. My eternal gratitude goes to Michelle Lovi, who is that rare publisher who is not afraid to take a chance on stories that are different. Thanks for not giving up on me when I was terrible at keeping in touch because I was trying to carve out time for writing. Thanks for telling me ‘you can do this’. And thanks especially to my sister Joss who, when I told her I had a publisher, squealed with delight and said “Finally!”
And of course the hugest thanks of all has to go to my family—Jamie, Finn and Sofie, who have gracefully and lovingly left space in their lives for my dream to be nourished and grow. And given me lots of chocolate as necessary.
