The kidnapping

The first rogue lunged forward without warning. Julian met the violent attack head on. The two large beasts collided in midair. The heavy impact shook the floorboards entirely beneath my feet. Julian clamped his huge jaws securely onto the rogue's front shoulder. He threw the enemy across the large room with terrifying physical strength. The rogue crashed hard into the stone fireplace. The ancient stone cracked loudly under the heavy weight of the animal. But the other two rogues used that brief distraction to their immediate advantage. They rushed forward together in perfect unison. One rogue aimed its sharp teeth for Julian's back legs, trying to bring the powerful Alpha down to the floor. The other rogue turned its glowing yellow eyes away from the fight and looked directly at me and Lucas. "No," I screamed in pure panic. I pushed Lucas safely behind the thick velvet curtain hanging near the window. "Stay right there and do not move." The rogue running toward us snapped its jaws viciously. Thick drool dripped from its sharp fangs onto the expensive rug. I looked around the destroyed room desperately for any kind of weapon. The heavy iron poker was completely gone, tossed away by the first attacker. My eyes finally fell on a large, jagged piece of thick wood from the broken bedroom door. It rested on the floor just a few feet away from my boots. I dove forward bravely. I grabbed the heavy piece of wood with both of my hands. The rough splinters cut into my palms, but I ignored the sharp pain completely. The rogue leaped at me with its front claws extended. I swung the wooden plank exactly like a baseball bat, putting all my strength into the heavy blow. The jagged wooden edge struck the ugly beast right across its sensitive snout. The rogue yelped loudly in pain and stumbled backward awkwardly. Dark blood dripped rapidly from its injured nose. It shook its large head angrily. The yellow eyes focused on me with renewed and bitter hatred. I raised the broken wood again, ready for another strike. My arms trembled violently from the intense effort, but my maternal instincts forced me to stand my ground. I would die before I let them touch my child. Behind the injured rogue, Julian was fighting a truly brutal war. He kicked the second enemy away with a powerful thrust of his back legs. He spun around quickly and caught the third rogue tightly by the throat. The sickening sound of snapping bones echoed loudly over the heavy rain outside. Julian dropped the lifeless body to the carpet immediately. But the Alpha was bleeding too. Deep and painful claw marks covered his dark coat. Bright red blood soaked his beautiful fur. The rogue standing in front of me realized it was slowly losing the violent battle. It looked at the dead bodies of its pack members lying on the floor. Then it looked at the large open window right behind my back. The heavy rain continued to pour through the dark night sky. The rogue made a quick and desperate decision to change its strategy. It did not try to attack me again. Instead, it lunged to the left side. It moved with blinding and unnatural speed. It grabbed the thick velvet curtain in its sharp teeth and ripped the heavy fabric away from the wall entirely. Lucas stood there completely exposed to the monster. "Mommy," Lucas cried out loudly. His glowing blue eyes widened in sudden and deep terror as the huge beast towered right over him. "Get away from him right now," I yelled fiercely. I swung the heavy piece of wood again with all my might. But I was entirely too slow. The rogue clamped its strong jaws firmly around the thick collar of Lucas's dinosaur pajamas. The strong fabric held together tightly. The rogue lifted my young son completely off the ground. Lucas kicked his little legs frantically in the air and screamed loudly for help. Julian heard the terrible scream. He roared in pure and terrifying fury. The giant black wolf dropped the second enemy he was fighting without a second thought. He rushed toward the tall window. The wooden ground shook violently under his heavy paws. He was a father desperate to save his only heir from certain death. The rogue holding Lucas tightly did not wait for the Alpha to reach them. It turned its powerful body around quickly. It leaped straight toward the glass window. The thick glass shattered instantly into a thousand tiny and dangerous pieces. The loud crash drowned out my own terrified scream completely. The rogue jumped out into the cold night air, taking my five year old son into the dangerous darkness with it. "Lucas," I screamed at the top of my lungs. I dropped the piece of wood and ran straight to the broken window. I ignored the sharp glass cutting my bare hands as I grabbed the wooden frame. I looked down into the dark front yard of the estate. The rogue landed heavily on the wet green grass two stories below. It stumbled forward for a brief second but quickly regained its firm balance. It tightened its grip on my crying son and sprinted rapidly toward the dense line of trees marking the forest edge. Julian did not stop running for a moment. The giant black wolf leaped right out of the broken window after them. He soared gracefully through the rainy night sky. He landed on the ground below with a very heavy thud. He let out a fierce, commanding howl that demanded the immediate attention of the entire Shadow Creek Pack. Then he chased after the fleeing rogue into the dark and dangerous trees. I stood frozen by the shattered window. The cold rain soaked my face and my thin clothes. My whole body shook uncontrollably in the harsh weather. They had taken him away. My sweet little boy was completely gone. The safe and quiet world I carefully built for him for five years was destroyed in a single night. Heavy footsteps pounded rapidly down the hallway. Several pack enforcers rushed into the destroyed bedroom. They held their sharp weapons ready for a fight. Victoria walked into the room right behind them. The former Luna looked at the dead rogues lying on the floor. Then she looked at my bleeding hands and the completely broken window. "Where is the boy?" Victoria demanded sharply, her voice echoing in the large room. "They took him," I sobbed openly. I pointed a shaking finger out into the dark forest. "A rogue jumped out the window with him. Julian went after them to get him back." Victoria turned extremely pale. She looked at the strong enforcers standing closely nearby. "Sound the general alarm immediately. Send every single available warrior into those woods right now. You must bring my grandson back safely." The loyal enforcers nodded their heads and ran out of the room quickly to follow her orders. Victoria walked slowly over to me. Her sharp eyes were no longer filled with bitter hatred. They were filled with genuine fear and deep worry. She understood the true danger we were facing now. The rogues did not just want to attack the pack for territory. They wanted to steal the future Alpha to destroy Julian's legacy entirely. I sank down slowly onto the cold wooden floor. I wrapped my shaking arms securely around my knees. The heavy rain continued to pour through the broken window, chilling my skin. I felt completely empty inside my soul. Every single breath I took hurt my tight chest. "He is just a little boy," I whispered softly to the empty room. "He is only five years old. He does not know how to fight them." Victoria stood silently near the broken doorway. She did not offer any warm comfort or kind words. She was a hardened woman of the dangerous werewolf world. But she stayed in the cold room with me. We waited together in the dark shadows. The minutes felt like agonizing and endless hours. The loud sounds of fighting outside slowly died down into total silence. The general alarm continued to ring loudly through the entire estate. Finally, heavy footsteps echoed in the quiet hallway again. My shattered heart leaped with sudden and desperate hope. I scrambled quickly to my feet. I stared intensely at the broken doorway. I prayed to the heavens to see Julian walking in with Lucas safely tucked in his strong arms. A tall figure stepped slowly into the bedroom. It was Julian. He had shifted back into his normal human form. He wore a pair of torn dark pants. He was covered from head to toe in brown mud and dark red blood. His broad chest heaved heavily as he struggled to breathe the cold air. He looked completely exhausted and physically drained. His large hands were shaking at his sides. I looked behind him eagerly. I waited for my sweet Lucas to appear from the hallway. But Julian was entirely alone. He walked very slowly toward me. His piercing blue eyes were filled with a deep and profound sorrow that terrified me. He stopped just a few feet away from where I stood. He looked down at the floorboards. The strong and ruthless Alpha of the Shadow Creek Pack looked completely broken and defeated. "Julian," I asked softly. My voice trembled with pure terror and rising panic. "Where is he? Where is our precious son?" Julian slowly raised his heavy head. A single clear tear escaped his blue eye and rolled down his cheek, mixing with the dirt and blood on his tired face. He reached out and grabbed my trembling hand gently. "I lost their scent trail at the rushing river," Julian whispered in a very hoarse voice. "They crossed the deep water border. They took him into the dead lands, Clara. They used the heavy rain to mask their tracks entirely. I searched every single inch of the riverbank, but I could not find him. Our son is gone." The room started to spin rapidly around me. My knees buckled under my own weight. Julian caught me quickly before I hit the floor. He pulled me against his broad, bleeding chest. I buried my face into his cold skin and let out a broken, agonizing scream that echoed through the entire mansion. The worst nightmare of my life had just become a terrifying reality, and I had no idea how to save him.
