I don't know how to react. He's asking me to go with to visit his mom and her fiancé this weekend?? Of course he wants us all to go. But going to the place where he was born, to meet his mother – that's really a huge deal.
"OF COURSE WE WILL GO!! I have always wanted to go New Jersey since my friend moved there. I hear it's beautiful there!" Natalie is more than just excited.
"Hey man, are you sure? I mean your mom's wedding is coming and –"Edwin asks scratching his head when Sean cuts him off before he could finish.
"I really want you guys to be there. It'll be a great support for me." Sean explains.
I still am shocked and my eyes are wide opened while my mind literally went blank.
"What do think Maria? Can you come, please?" Sean looks at me pleading. Oh great! Now he has to make that puppy face? That's really unfair. How can I even say no to this face?

"Are you done packing?" Natalie queries. "You're going to meet his mother for the first time! Do dress to impress." She winks.
"Why would I do that?" heat flashes over my cheek. "All of us are friends, remember?" I huff. "And of course, she'll be there too. Things might too awkward again. She might be pissed seeing me there." I add.
"Oh let her come! I'm gonna punch that face of hers this time if she even tries to trouble you agian!!" Natalie growls.
To be honest, I'm glad that Edwin and Natalie are my best friends. To them, I'm the most precious person they need to protect! Don't know what I'd do without these two.
After I'm done packing, we go to Edwin's as Sean's supposed to pick us up from there. I don't know why but Edwin's been really quite. I did ask Natalie about it but she said that he just has a lot on his mind right now.
Sean is already here. His car is right outside Edie's house. Going in, we notice the boys sitting in the living room, their shoulders are tensed. As we go up to them, Sean turns around and he's eye stare at mine. I feel his shoulders relaxing but there's still something in his eyes that I can't decipher yet. What happened between these two? Why do I feel that there's something going on that I have no idea about?
After long hours of driving, we take a break as all of us are famished. It's probably me who had noticed it along the ride. The boys seemed silent than usual throughout the drive which only made me sure of something of my suspicions. I wonder what is troubling them both. Did they have a fight? No, that doesn't seem to be the case as they are talking normally with each other. But still there's something, something that's fitting in right!
"Penny for your thoughts?" Sean peaks in as I was lost in my thoughts. I jump back a little in surprise with him being in such a close to me.
"I- I was just enjoying the view! Look at the sky right now. Isn't beautiful? I wonder what'd feel like to be lost in this mesmerizing sky." I tell him.
"Ah well, I won't let that happen." Confused I turn to him just to find him looking at me with the most admiring smile on his face. "I can't lose you. I mean come on, I'd be lost without you. You are the best thing that's happened to me since I came here. The best friend, I can't afford to lose."
A warm sensation crawls inside of me at his words. I am important to him. And that's what I really needed probably. And that's why I need to be there for him no matter what. I need to there with him as his friend always.

Well, we heard that Sean comes from a rich family but man this is beyond what we'd imagined. Standing in front of his mother's house, the three of us can't seem to stop gawking at the huge mansion!
The architecture is a combination of both medieval and modern. The Corinthian pillars which hold the balcony on the second floor highlighting the entrance. And oh boy, the rose garden along with the driveway is something to drool over.
"HOLY s**t!!" A low scream leaves Natalie's mouth as soon as we go in the massive mansion. "You people are so loaded." She adds.
Sean awkwardly laughs as he scratches the back of his head. "Welcome to my humble abode!"
The interior is stunning. Oh well saying just stunning will be an understatement of course. The combination of grey and white marble is simply breath taking. The huge chandelier in the middle of the foyer surrounded by a spiral staircase leading up to the second floor is just the cherry on top.
We turn around hearing sharp footsteps coming towards us from the kitchen.
"Oh dear! You are here." A middle aged woman walking towards us and by the sparkle in her hazel eyes, the same sparkle I'd die for, I could tell it is Sean's mom. Her golden curls complement her fair tone perfectly. And boy, he got his looks from his mother.
"Hey mom. These are my friends I've been telling you about." Sean starts introducing us to her. When he mentions me, her eyes lit up and she gives me a warm and tight hug.
"Thank you" she whispers into my ears. I'm taken aback by her response. Before I could say anything, she pulls away, giving me the warmest smile. "It's so nice to finally meet you. I've heard so much about you from my son." Turning to Edie & Nat, she says "He's very fond of you guys."
"Mom!!"
"What? It's really rare for you to make friends, let alone talk about them so much. I'm really happy that sending you there was one of the best steps I took!" she giggles.
"The pleasure is all ours ma'am. We are honored to be here." Edwin speaks up.
"Oh come on now. Let me get off your backs now. You must be tired and hungry. Go upstairs and freshen up. I'll set up the table."
Sean takes to the rooms we are supposed to stay for the weekend. He and Edie are going to share & us girls will be sharing the other bedroom.
“Girl!! This is like too much. Like waaaaaaaaaaaay too much. They are f***ing rich. Boy no wonder that witch is after him.” Natalie flops on the massive bed in the middle of room. Honestly, 5 people can sleep in such a huge bed.
I sigh at her comment. There is no use of trying to stop her about nagging this topic again and again.
I walk towards the window. The floor to roof heighted window gives the perfect view towards the lake in the back of the mansion. I can see the night sky clearly. The moon is just right above us surrounded a bunch of twinkling stars.
But for some reason, my mind keeps wandering back to what Sean’s mom whispered into my ears and the way she hugged me. Now why’d she do that?
And why did she thank me on the first time we'd ever met? Perhaps I’m thinking too much about it.
