Chapter 7The next time they found themselves speaking on the phone, Angela knew that Elizabeth was dating and doing whatever else it was she wanted to do. She did not know whether Dustin was still in the picture once he’d also graduated and moved back home. Angela had recognized by this time that whenever they reconnected, the tighter she tried to hold onto Elizabeth, the farther away Liz went, so Angela began to go to great lengths to distract herself. She was resolved not to just sit around and pine. At least, she was determined not to do that all of the time. She went back to the strip club to fuel a different, more benign fantasy that didn’t carry the same amount of risk; at least with Jennifer she knew what to expect and she could count on her ego being stroked.
