“What’s your name child?” The Queen pulled matted hair from the girl’s face.         “Amar.” She said as she continued to eat, afraid it would be taken from her before she finished it.         “Were you hurt?” Mora asked as she poured the girl a drink.         “No.” The girl mumbled as she continued to eat hastily.         “Where are your parents, why didn’t they stop him?” The Queen asked, sitting across from her as she continued. The spoon clattered against the bowl when it slipped from her fingers.         “My family is dead your Highness. My mother was the last and she died a month ago. I have been trying to survive on my own since then.” She sniffed and wiped at her tear soaked face. Mora came around the table and hugged her tight, letting the girl cry into her shoulder.         “I think I can give you a job, if you will take it of course.” Mora said, lifting the girl’s face from the floor.         “I don’t have a personal servant yet. You look like a bright girl, I think you would do great.”         “That is a great idea!” The Queen smiled, “we will get you a nice bath and some clean clothes. There is an empty room not far from theirs, it will do nicely.”         “Theirs?” Amar asked shyly.         “Mora and my son, Prince Dorban.”         “Oh!” She looked at Mora in shock, and stepped back from her. “Forgive me princess, I didn’t know you were a royal. Please forgive me.”         “Hush now,” Mora smiled for her, “I didn’t mind at all.”         “Amar, there is something you should know about Mora, before we go any further.” The Queen paused, “you must swear never to tell a living soul.”         “Oh yes your Highness, I swear it.”         “She and Dorban are not married yet, but she is already a princess.”         “I was born a princess, to another race. My families kingdom is far away.”         “How did you get here then?” Amar glanced between them as they walked slowly together. “I don’t understand.”         “I left my home because a man r***d me, I left in shame. I wasn’t going to let that happen to you.” Mora said with a smile for the girl which Amar returned.         “It wasn’t Prince Dorban was it?” She asked after a small silence.         “Heavens no. Dorban stopped me from taking my life. I was so ashamed of what had happened I couldn’t stand it. He stopped me and really saved my life, I would have drowned.”         “Does your family know you are here?”         “No, and they won’t either.” The Queen warned, Amar nodded her agreement silently in earnest. The rest of the late morning the three of them spent together getting Amar cleaned up and settled to her new life.         They were on their way to the dining hall for dinner when a soldier came running up to the Queen, he was gasping for breath as he bowed to her. “Your Highness! It’s gone, the Veriask it has been destroyed!”         “Are you sure?” He nodded vigorously, “you can see the flame from here.” He opened a nearby window and pointed. It looked like a mushroom head fanning out against the sky as the sun’s light faded.         “What about the people on board the ship?” Mora had him by the shoulders. No, this couldn’t be true.         “They are all accounted for, except one.” He cringed as he slowly admitted, “right before they evacuated the ship Prince Dorban disappeared.”         “No. You are lying.” Mora released him, and staggered back a few steps.         “They must be mistaken.” The Queen demanded.         “My lady, your Highness.” An aged soldier came hustling towards them. “I was there, I saw it. Your son was kidnapped. I saw the man that took him from the Veriask.”         “Bana! How could you let this happen? You were supposed to keep him safe!” Mora screamed at the man, Amar catching her as she tried to rush him unknowingly saving his life by pinning Mora’s arms to her sides.         “We were evacuating the ship, the Prince and I were instructing people to safety. The entire ship was in upheaval. It happened so quickly, I couldn’t have done anything at all. The man transported in, and out just as fast.”         “You saw who took him? Was it a Benat?” The Queen asked.         “No, not a Benat. I had just looked up at the Prince, the man materialized behind the Prince. He had a sword to the Prince’s throat. As quick as a flash they both disappeared.”         “Describe the man.” Mora demanded.         “He was large, an even match to the Prince in size. He had black hair and green eyes.”         “Like mine? The same color as mine?” Mora asked, dread filling her stomach.         “Exactly like yours my Lady.”         “Do you know the person?” The Queen looked at Mora in shock.         “He’s my brother, one of them anyway. He’s here to kill Dorban.” She pulled free of Amar’s hold on her.         “I want a communications channel opened to the battleship Destroyer. Tell them to heave to and be prepared to be boarded.”         “Under whose authority?”         “Princess Amoran of Mirinia, if they don’t comply I will incinerate the ship.” She growled, her anger sending the soldiers running to do her biding.         “Mora, you can’t go.” The Queen pleaded with her as Mora followed the soldiers so she could transport.         “I am the ONLY thing that can save Dorban now. I can not be responsible for his death after he saved mine.”         “My Lady,” Bana returned, they have stopped the ship but haven’t responded.”         “They won’t either, I have to go alone. It is too dangerous for anyone else.”         “But they would take you and leave forever.” The Queen demanded, she didn’t trust the situation at all.         “I am bringing my fiancée home.” She stepped into the transporter and disappeared. She reappeared in the prison bay of her brother’s ship. “Morakai let him go!”         Her brother had Dorban perched on his knees, a sword arched above his head and ready to come down across Dorban’s neck. At the sound of her voice he turned, sword still in the air. “Amoran! Is that really….you?” He had flown towards her but found her short sword in his throat. “Amoran, it is me. Morakai, your baby brother.”
