------------------CONTENT WARNING: VIOLENCE, DEATH 18 PLUS ONLY--------------------
More woke up when a servant cleared his throat, he was standing with his back to them at the foot of the bed. “Yes? What is it?”
“The Queen needs the Prince’s assistance in a matter. She asks that he comes quickly.”
“I will tell him. He will be right there.” The servant left and Mora turned to Dorban lying next to her. “Dorban,” She leaned down and kissed his throat just under his ear.
“I heard him,” Dorban pulled her down on top of him. “I have a response to what you said just before you went to sleep last night.”
“What did I say that would require a response?”
“I love you Princess Amoran.”
“Are you absolutely certain?”
“With every ounce of my being.” He kissed her and sighed, “come with me today.”
“All right.” She picked up the first dress she came to and asked, “do you object to me having a knife?”
“Do you plan on using it on me?”
“NO!” She turned, shocked at the implication, “for self-defense.”
“No, I don’t object at all.” He kissed her softly on the cheek as he finished the buttons on his shirt. “Wear a sword if you want, it does not matter to me.”
“I don’t have a sword anymore. My old sword, I left it behind.” She tied the dress behind her neck. He watched to see where she was going to place the knife she pulled from her bag. She looked down at herself for a moment and finally placed it in the valley made when the dress pressed her b*****s together.
“If I hadn’t watched you do that I would never have known it was even there.” He commented as he slipped his arms around her waist from behind and kissed her cheek. She arched into him for a moment.
“That’s the point. You aren’t much of an assassin if you can’t hide your weapon.” She took his arm as they left the doorway.
“I keep forgetting that you could kill me.”
“I could do it but then I would have to take my own life so what’s the point of killing you? It would be like killing myself.”
They walked into the throne room, the Queen was arguing with two large men. The largest reached back like to strike her and Dorban exploded. He gabbed the man and wrestled him away and Mora tried to shield the Queen. The second man jumped at them and ended up grabbing Mora and holding her by the throat. “Let him go!” The stranger screamed at Dorban as he tightened his arms around her throat, “I will snap her neck.”
“Don’t do it Dorban, I am fine.” Mora had her hands on the man’s arm around her throat.
“Don’t you hurt her,” Dorban warned, he still had the second man in a submission hold. They were stuck in a stand off staring each other down from across the room.
“Let him g….” The man didn’t have a chance to finish. The knife was out and sunk deep into the back of his lung through his ribs. He stopped in mid-sentence and dropped dead in the floor.
“Now,” Dorban wrestled with the man when he struggled again. “What is going on here?”
“They were demanding that we pay them not to attack our next border patrol.” The Queen said in a daze as she stared at the now dead body laying before her.
“You don’t pay your men will die!” The man Dorban was holding growled.
“Just try it.” The Queen hissed.
With a loud growl of rage the man broke loose from Dorban, jumped his friend’s dead body, and vaulted at the Queen. Mora stopped him with a forearm in the throat. She took his hand and wound his arm around his neck. With one hard pull at an angle with his hand there was a loud snap and he fell on top of his friend. Dorban and the Queen both stood looking at her in shock.
“I’m sorry, we should have gotten information out of him first.” Mora shrugged as she rubbed her upper arms with her palms.
“How? How did you do that? You killed them both, one with your BARE hands!” The Queen asked, staring at the dead men.
“Mother, there are things you don’t know about Mora. She is the only daughter of King Dorakai, the assassin’s King.” Dorban reached for his mother, his touch breaking her from her shock.
“How did she get here then?”
“I knew it Dorban. No one wants me.” Mora grabbed up her skirt to run when a hand on her arm stopped her. “Dorban I…., you highness?” Tears streamed down her face as she looked at the Queen holding on to her.
“Don’t run again, please don’t run again. I just want to know what made you leave your family and your home?” Mora broke down in tears and the Queen hugged her tight, “whatever it is, its over!”
“I told you Mora, he will not do those things to you again.” Dorban stroked the hair falling down her back as he too joined their embrace, holding them both.
“Let’s go some where private to talk all right?” The Queen wiped away a few tears. She had a servant take care of the bodies before they left. She took them to her private study and sat Mora down. “Now I want you to trust me like you have obviously trusted Dorban.”
“I left because I was r***d and I was afraid of what my father would do when he found out. I’ve been gone for six months, I don’t want to go back.” Dorban sat next to her, she leaned against him as he took her hand lacing their fingers together.
“You are not going anywhere unless it is with me at your side.” Dorban declared.
“He’s right. You will stay here with us.”
“I didn’t want that man to hurt you, you have been so nice to me. But it was the only way to stop him.”
“It is all right little one,” the Queen reached out and patted the girls shoulder. “I just didn’t expect something like that out of someone so small.” The Queen smiled and brushed the last tears away.
“She was her father’s best warrior but not even I could have done something like that. Mother I was thinking about having a sword made for her, having her close to you could be a good thing with men like these around.”
“No one knows yet what she can do?” They both nodded no. She looked directly at Mora, “do you mind?”
“Not if it will keep you safe.” Mora took a deep breath and sighed. She didn’t have to be afraid anymore she truly had a safe home now. The two people she needed most trusted her and she trusted them. There was nothing to hide anymore.
“I told you it would be all right.” Dorban kissed the top of her head and she hugged his chest tight. How she loved this man and the life he was making for her.
“Dorban, can we get something to eat? I am starving.” She asked, her stomach growling.
“So am I.” He kissed her and pulled her up to her feet.
A servant appeared as they came to the door, “my knife,” Mora asked.
“I have it my lady.” The servant pulled it from his belt and said, “I took the pleasure of cleaning it for you.”
“That wasn’t necessary, thank you.”
“It was a pleasure I assure you.” Mora slipped it back into it’s place and took Dorban’s arm. They were making their way to the dining room when there was ruckus coming down the hall way.
“Mother! What happened?” Saven and Gore were hurrying towards them.
“I am fine Saven, thanks to Dorban and Mora.” The Queen let her youngest son hug her for a moment and motioned to Mora.
“What happened?” He demanded again.
“Two men were trying to extort us for money, they are both dead now.”
“You killed them brother?” Saven glanced over his shoulder at him, Dorban laughed.
“No.” Dorban shook his head, pride and a smile on his face.
“Well who killed them then?” Saven insisted.
“I killed both of them.” Mora said quietly.
“No,” Saven laughed in her face shaking his head. “You have got to be joking.”
“There is no way!” Gore laughed as he pointed at her. Mora took his finger and twisted his arm behind his back, forcing him to his knees. She pulled the knife and set it to his throat.
“I owe you.” She said it lowly against his ear so no-one but him heard it. Sweat beads popped out across his face, it still contorting in pain.
“How did you do that? Where did that knife come from?” Saven stammered.
“I am not going to waste my time, I’m hungry.” Mora let him go, Gore scrambled to his feet and hid behind Saven, holding his throat.
“She could have killed me!” Gore croaked.
“I told you to get rid of her! She is a menace.” Saven demanded, he had watched her put the knife back between her breasts. “She could kill any one of us in a moment.”
“She’s my new guard Saven. She’s not going anywhere.” The Queen pulled her close and held on tight.
“What did I tell you Saven? Leave her alone.” Dorban growled, bowing up and stalking towards his brother. Saven nearly fell as he backed up and bumped into Gore behind him.
“Fine, come on.” Gore followed on his heals as Saven ran like a whipped dog.
“The whole kingdom will know by night fall.” Dorban sighed heavily, shaking his head. So much for plans made.
“They would find out eventually I guess. At least they don’t know who I am yet.” Mora shrugged, this wasn’t the plan but it wasn’t the worst thing that could have happened.
“Dorban and I will do our best to keep it that way.” The Queen reassured her softly.
