The engine sputters to a halt, and my stomach drops along with it.
It's clear that Tristen is holding back something important, yet I'm too anxious to voice my question: Why are we at a hospital?
"Come on then," he says softly, catching me off guard in my seat. Ever since I spotted the hospital sign, I've been on edge. When he mentioned taking me somewhere, this was the last place I expected.
Our eyes meet, and I can see the amusement in his expression at my startled reaction. He probably thinks I'm a bit odd; I've done enough strange things around him to leave a less-than-stellar impression.
Honestly, he might even think I'm like E.T.
"Are you sure you want me to come down with you?" I ask quietly, nervously toying with my fingers as I await his answer.
