“That’s difficult,” sighed my boss, Crystal Ferguson, after I explained the David story and my desire to attend the hearings. “I totally understand why you want to attend, and we will, of course, support you.” She took a breath. “But why didn’t you tell me earlier? We need to let clients know as soon as there’s a change in their appointments. We can’t leave it till the last minute.”
