Hazel was curled up on her bed in a cross-legged position reading the crime book "Simply Lies." She excitedly flipped the pages one at a time, savoring every turn of the riveting story with her eyes glued to the pages. With every line, the author kept her on the edge of her seat by skillfully combining tension, mystery, and intrigue. Hazel's irritation increased as she continued; she heard her grandmother calling from downstairs. She sighed and scowled, annoyed that her reading had been cut off. With a grunt of reluctance, she marked her place in the book, put it down, and went downstairs. As she descended the stairs, she noticed her grandma standing in the living room with two strangers, an older woman and a young girl. Amanda introduced the older woman as her childhood friend and the young girl as the older woman's granddaughter. Amanda beamed excitedly as she introduced the older woman as Ms. Martha Thompson, her childhood friend, and the young girl as Emma, Ms. Martha's granddaughter. "Hazel, meet Martha Thompson! We've known each other since we were kids. And this is Emma, her lovely granddaughter." "It's a pleasure to meet you, dear." Martha said; she extended her hand with a warm smile. "Nice to meet you, Ms. Thompson. And hello, Emma." Hazel nodded politely, but her interest kept flicking toward her book, itching to continue reading. "Hello, Hazel" Veronica greeted Amanda They sat in the living room, sipping tea and reminiscing about their childhood memories. "Remember when we played hide-and-seek in the old abandoned house down the street? Those were some thrilling times!" Amanda Expressed "Oh, yes! And what about the time we had that treehouse in your backyard? We spent hours up there, just talking and dreaming about our future adventures." Martha said, imagining the golden old days. "Those were the days, indeed. We were inseparable back then." Amanda Mentioned while sipping her tea "Absolutely! We had so much fun together." Martha conveyed, As they continued to reminisce about their childhood antics, Amanda and Martha were utterly engrossed in their conversation, laughing and sharing stories. However, Veronica and Hazel, who were also present, started to feel a little bored. Veronica, who sat beside Hazel, started the conversation to comeout of boredom "I'm glad both are enjoying their trip down memory lane, but I feel left out. I can't relate to their childhood stories." Veronica whispered to Hazel. "Yeah, me too. It's nice they're catching up, but I feel disconnected." Hazel nods in agreement. "What do you think we should do? I don't want to interrupt their conversation, but I'm getting restless." Veronica commented "Yea, me too." Hazel said as she is an introvert and had no idea how to build a conversation. "Hey, Hazel! I heard from your grandmother you're going to my school. I'm going shopping this evening to purchase some stuff for school for our senior year. It would be best if you came along with us. It'll be so much fun; we can be good friends." Hazel was still hesitant, as she was not used to going out with strangers, but Veronica was known for her outgoing and friendly personality. "Come on, Hazel; I promise we'll have a great time! We can help you pick some cool school stuff and ensure you're all set for the new year. Plus, it'll be a chance for us to get to know each other better." Veronica said excitedly. "I appreciate the offer, Veronica, but I'm not really into shopping, and I'm usually more comfortable staying home." Hazel denied the offer. "I understand, but sometimes it's good to break out of our routines and try something new, and we can all have a blast together. You don't have to worry about being shy or introverted around us; we'll ensure you feel included and have a good time." Veronica is trying to convince Hazel. Veronica's genuine enthusiasm and reassurance started to sway Hazel's decision. "Well, it wouldn't hurt to try it. Alright, I'll come along." Hazel finally agreed Veronica grinned triumphantly, thrilled that she could convince Hazel to join them. "Awesome! You won't regret it, We're going to have a blast!" Veronica said excitedly. Hazel smiled nervously but also felt a sense of excitement about the prospect of making new friends and trying something outside of her comfort zone. She thanked Veronica for persuasion and agreed to go shopping with the group, hoping it would be a positive experience and a chance to remove her introverted tendencies. Hazel asked her grandmother after Veronica and Martha left, "Grandma, Veronica asked me to go shopping with her, and I said yes! Can I leave? Hazel inquired, her eyes wide with interest. Her grandmother gave her a warm grin and a nod. " Of course, my love, she replied, "Going out and making new friends is an amazing idea for you. It's crucial to have fun and establish new friends in this new town." Hazel thanked her grandmother with a beaming smile and hurried to prepare for her outing to the mall. Hazel chose to dress more casually. She selected a warm green sweater and wore well-fitting black pants to complete the look. Hazel nodded contentedly as she observed herself in the mirror. When a car honked while Hazel was waiting for Veronica, she rushed outside to find Martha and Veronica waiting for her. Martha smiled as she exited the car. Amanda was waiting on the front porch when Martha walked up and said, "Enjoy your time, young girls, but don't be too late." Amanda and Hazel entered the house after the girls had left for their shopping. "Are you certain that she is normal?" Martha questioned Amanda, who was ready to enter the kitchen, "What the heck are you talking about?" "When we talked, I felt a mysterious power in her body. She has powers, not normal as you said, in my opinion." Amanda was astonished to hear that. "It's impossible; she has no power since I took it away. Amanda revealed. "I feel her strength, and it's dark, like an evil force. Are you sure Amanda? I can never be wrong about things like that?" She is both astonished and tense when she hears that from Martha; the ground gives way beneath her feet. She never imagined Hazel to possess evil power, but she is aware that everyone in the town is drawn to evil power and it is very unsafe for Hazel.
