Monica stayed stable as the wound was surgically repaired. It was uncommon for the doctors to perform surgery. Having werewolves as patients meant that wounds could heal without surgery. The doctors were successful with the surgery. They carefully sewn Monica's wound up and dressed her wound. She was left to rest and Reggie stayed by her side. She stayed asleep for more than a day. Reggie was over tired but refused to go anywhere. He prayed to the moon goddess to save Monica.

The Alpha had to order Reggie to go home and rest, he would have someone watch her, while Reggie was gone. Monica stayed asleep while he was gone. Reggie couldn't sleep, eat, or wash without knowing if she was going to wake up. He ended up going back to the hospital and sleeping next to Monica's bed. He was still groggy the next morning when Monica started to move slightly.

"Monica, please wake up, my mate. I cannot live without you. Please get better so we can live as mates, together" Reggie cried. He was thirsty from not drinking.

Monica woke up slowly.

"Reggie," she spoke softly.

"Monica, thank the moon goddess, you're alright" Reggie cried. He kissed her gently.

"Reggie, how long have I been asleep?" Monica asked. She saw that Reggie looked like he hadn't slept much.

"Nearly 2 days. I haven't been able to do much while you have been here" Reggie admitted. He was so relieved.

"I can see that. You should rest, I'm not going anywhere" Monica told him.

"Neither am I " Reggie said and moved closer to her.

He tried to squeeze on the bed but had to gently move Monica onto his chest. He fell asleep holding her. Monica also felt better feeling his warm body and hearing him breathing deeply. The doctors and nurses checked on Monica. They didn't disturb Reggie as they knew that the werewolves healed better with thier mates. Monica had to disturb him when it was time for dinner. She knew that Reggie wouldn't have had much to eat.

"Reggie, wake up, it's dinner time. You should get something too" Monica tried to wake him.

Reggie only woke up when she kissed him. He smiled and helped her with her meal.

"You know I can feed myself" Monica told him.

"I know but I've felt useless these last 2 days. I want to look after you, my mate" Reggie told her and spoon fed her peas and carrots.

Monica let him feed her but was getting annoyed that he wasn't looking after himself too.

"Reggie, you should get yourself something to eat too. You can't look after me if you're hungry or tired" Monica told him.

"I can't, I don't want to leave you alone" Reggie admitted.

"Why, do you think something will happen while you're gone?" Monica wondered.

"Yes, every time I leave you something bad seems to happen. I can't risk not being here for you" Reggie admitted to her.

"Nothing is going to happen to me, not here. Now, go and get something to eat or I will get upset" Monica insisted.

"Alright but I'm coming right back" Reggie told her. He slowly walked off and looked for some food.

Monica didn't have to wait long before he came back with just a few snacks from a vending machine.

"That's not really a meal" she told him when she saw what he brought back.

"It's all I could find here" Reggie told her and ate his chocolate bar.

"What about the cafeteria? They must have one here" Monica wondered.

"It's too far" Reggie lied.

He didn't want to go that far to get food. Monica just shook her head. He was going to have to go and get more to eat, drink, sleep and wash. It was going to be hard for them both while Monica was in the hospital. Reggie continued to be with Monica, even though he shouldn't have to be there. Monica was able to receive visitors after that night. She was surprised that she had any. There was a knock at the door and a huge man stood there.

"Hello, you are Monica? We never really introduced ourselves. Baldrick, I mean Reggie has told me about you. I am Alpha Barron Lucian of the royal blood pack. We met in the werewolf's fighters death arenas but I had half shifted then. I am grateful to both you and Reggie for helping me get out of there. I will remember that it was because of you two mates that I'm free. There will be payback for those responsible but I will have to go back to my pack, first" the Alpha Barron informed her.

"I'm glad that we were able to help. How has it been since you got here?" Monica wondered.

"I've been treated royally but I am getting annoyed with your alpha's constant boasting about his pack, saving me. He tries my patience when he hints the real reason, he wanted to help me. His pack needs a more powerful alliance. It seems he is expecting a war with someone. I will find out the truth, I always do" the Alpha Barron informed them.

"You should know the truth about why we helped" Monica began.

"Why did you help? You were a hunter's daughter. You saved Reggie because he was your mate. You didn't have to come back for me" the Alpha Barron asked.

"It was because we were promised that we would be accepted as mates, if we helped save you. We are sorry that you were told that it was us that saved you. We wanted to be accepted as mates" Monica informed him.

"Why weren't you accepted as mates? Anyone could see that the moon goddess blessed you both" the Alpha Barron wondered.

"It's because I had been mates with the Alpha's sister. We had to keep our love a secret but it wasn't enough. We were discovered and tortured. If it hadn't been for Monica calling me Reggie, the Alpha would have killed us" Reggie explained.

"I don't think it would have been your name that saved you. What else did you say? Was this while you were being tortured?" the Alpha Barron asked them.

"Yes, I was and Monica had to watch. Then my Alpha got curious as why Monica called me Reggie. He didn't believe that Monica loved me. That's when she mentioned trying to save me at the werewolf's fighters death arena" Reggie explained.

"I see, then he got greedy and wanted to be rewarded. I should tell him that he will not get it. I am grateful that you both told me the truth. I still believe that you both are blessed by the moon goddess" the Alpha Barron told them.

"You won't tell the Alpha that we told you the truth. We just wanted to be together and accepted as mates" Reggie begged him.

"No but I will keep an eye on him. He wants too many things that he hasn't earned. I will make sure you both get what you want, you are second chance mates" the Alpha Barron told them.

He soon left them and then prepared to leave the pack of the harvest moon. He had the urge he had to find who was responsible for his capture. He also had to find out what happened to Reggie's brother. He was told he might have gone rogue but the Alpha Barron didn't believe it. The Alpha Ashley was too greedy and he was trying to have a more powerful pack. He would make sure that Reggie and Monica were safe in the pack. The Alpha Barron then got to say goodbye to the rest of the pack. Alpha Ashley was disappointed that he was leaving without a proposal to have a more powerful alliance. Monica had a few members from the pack visit her and she seemed to be welcomed. They wanted to know when she could go back to sewing thier clothes. Alpha Ashley was saving money on the clothes budget with Monica as seamstress. Reggie was finally able to eat, sleep and wash more. He got to take Monica home after a week. He was determined to carry her all the way home.

"I can walk, Reggie" she told him.

"I know, I just don't want you to pull your stitches" Reggie told her.

"I won't, it's starting to scab over the stitches" Monica insisted.

"It doesn't matter, until the doctor tells us that you're healed, I won't let you go anywhere without me" Reggie instructed.

"Very well, let's go home" she replied defeated.

Reggie took her home and looked after her. He was still unsure about her wound. He didn't know if he could mate with her without hurting her. He decided to wait until, he was sure. By the time the doctor gave Monica the diagnosis that she was healed. Both Reggie and Monica were impatient to mate with each other. The doctor told them that Monica was healed enough for them to mate. They were impatient to start. Reggie took her in his arms and carried her bridal style, into the bedroom. He tore off her clothes and started kissing her all over. He felt her scar and kissed it gently. He kissed his mark with more passion. Monica felt warm and tingly through her body. Reggie could feel it too. He sucked and licked her sensitive spots and when she calmed down, he penetrated her. They didn't have to be quiet as they continued to mate for the rest of the night. They climaxed together, over and over again. When they finally stopped, they fell asleep together. Monica and Reggie thought about everything that happened to them. Monica realised that she was glad she was no longer a hunter's daughter and Reggie and Rufus were glad that she loved them as a man and wolf.
