The First Night

As they sat in the car, she couldn't hold herself anymore. She was looking towards outside from the window, tears streaming down her face. Dev: Arundhati, are you alright?? She slowly turned towards him and hummed.  He looked at her tears. He did not know why, but they were affecting him. Very much indeed. He slowly pulled her towards himself and hugged her close. She hugged him back. Dev: I don't know how it feels to leave everything behind and go into a new home and settle, but I do know how it is to live without people you love. I have felt that, though in a different way and you will soon understand. But you know what was the one thing I learnt from that INCIDENT?? That whatsoever happens, crying will never change stuff. Don't cry. Please. You can go and meet them anytime and anywhere. And I promise to accompany you whenever you want. You are my wife and family is my first priority. After hearing him, she was relieved that she wasn't going to have a typical orthodox husband who wouldn't allow her to go out of the house alone. Thank God!!!!! They soon reached the house. It was a duplex and she was in awe of it. She felt warm and cozy and comfortable and what not. Though she was with him in school and had visited his home in Delhi, she never saw the Mumbai home, well, for various reasons....... Vineeta: Push this rice pot slowly with your right foot and enter. She did as told and entered the house. Devanshi hugged her arm . Devanshi: I finally have a person to go shopping with. Shivanya smiles at it and says 'And I finally have a person who can help me with shopping.' Everyone laughed softly and they went on to do the next Rasam. Shivanya took out the ring in all three rounds and was declared the winner.  Nitesh: Ok children. Now it's time to sleep. You guys have to go to the Mandir tomorrow and then Shivanya also has her Pehli Rasoi( first kitchen). He smiled at her and went to the room while the siblings looked at him in confusion and Shivanya smiles back. Dev: Divi. Did you just see what happened? He smiled. Wasn't that the first time in years? Divi: Yes bhai. He rarely smile. Wow Bhabhi. You are so lucky. Shivanya: Guys. Come on. He might not be so strict. Now let's go. Anni, you also sleep. It's already very late. Good night Devanshi wished them back and went to her room to sleep. Well, now you might be wondering that there's might be a typical first night of any arranged marriage couples?? No, it isn't. No awkwardness or anything like that.  Dev(after reaching the room): You change in the washroom while I change here. Will call you once done. Ok?? Shivanya: Done. She picked up her clothes from her suitcase and went to the washroom to get changed. After they were done, they sat on the bed. Shivanya: The bed is big enough for both of us. Let's make a pillow wall. Dev: That's childish Arundhati. Shivanya: You know me Dev. Am I less than a child?? I always was and I always will. Dev: That's right. They made a pillow wall and slept on their sides. That night, though there was no sexuality, was the most memorable night for them. They talked the whole night, about anything and everything. From food to movies, from books to politics, from the difference between love and like to the difference between hate and dislike.... It was amazing.  ———————————————————————— Hey peeps. The chapter as promised. I promise to get you the next one tomorrow. Hope you like it. I know it's a bit lame. So sorry guys. My mind is not just working. Please forgive me for that. LOTS OF LOVE  Riya
