*Nathan POV*
I almost shifted the moment that fucker put his hand on her!
-'Kill him!'
My wolf was fighting so hard for control my eyes were darkening. I was trembling, my hands clenched into fists at my sides. I saw her twisting his hand, and he went to his knees and squealed.
She said, -"You wanna lose your hand, boy?"
Good. I closed my eyes and breathed a few times. My wolf calmed down, satisfied with how she dealt with him. She turned, and I saw him try to attack her from behind, and I got up. Just as I was about to lunge for him, Leo grabbed my right arm and Tom grabbed my left. They both held me with all their force, and all the drinks spilled, the table almost fell. My eyes were totally black, my claws were extended, even my canines elongated.
-'Calm down, man, you're gonna make a scene,' Leo mind-linked.
She had moved so fast I almost missed how she twisted his arm to the back. My wolf then howled proudly when he registered what happened, and I immediately relaxed.
The drinks were spilled, and the blonde waitress, who wouldn't stop eyeing me and tried to flirt from the start, came to clean it up. She stood in front of me, blocking me from seeing my mate, her chest practically exposed for everyone to see, and I bet you would get a good view from the other side because her skirt was too short; it was embarrassing. She said something, but I really didn't care to listen, and Leo sent her off. He called Paul, the owner, and asked for my mate to serve us instead. The blonde woman looked furious when Paul sent her away.
When my mate came back, I took a good look at her. She looked so hot with her red lipstick, her green and pink hair in a high ponytail with some loose hair that framed her oval face. She wasn't wearing anything fancy or revealing, just a white shirt and ripped skinny jeans, black chained and spiked boots. She has rings on all her fingers and way fewer bracelets than when I saw her 10 years ago. Her hourglass body was exquisite. She had wide hips, thick legs, and a nice, round ass, I bet all toned. She looked like she exercised a lot, like an Amazonian princess warrior. My Amazonian warrior.
When she came to our table, I was still in my own thoughts. She was putting the empty glasses that were left on a tray.
-"Hello, I'm Samantha. I'll be your waitress for the rest of the night, what can I ge—"
She became speechless as soon as our eyes locked. My heart was pounding so hard I bet everyone could hear it.
-'She recognized us,' I said to my wolf, who was happily wagging his tail and grinning like a goofy dog.
-'Mate is beautiful blushing.'
-'Yes, she is,' I said back.
Leo chuckled, taking me out of my trance, and ordered for us. Then he put his arm around me.
-"...and a piña colada for NATHAN here," he said, not so subtly.
I could see she was uncomfortable, and it alarmed me, but I kept my stern gaze.
-'Relax, man, she recognized you, that's a good sign, it's clear you made a good impression,' he mind-linked me.
After a while, she came with our drinks, and I could see something had changed. She had this wall up; her face was blank and emotionless, and her body language was guarded.
-"Enjoy your drinks." she sounded angelic.
She turned but stopped when Leo asked.
-"Can you please tell us your name again?"
She turned only her head, narrowed her eyes as if suspecting something, then shrugged and said,
-"Samantha," then she went to another table.
-'Samantha?' Leo asked me through the link. - 'Why would she lie to us?'
I drank my piña colada while watching her go from table to table. There are rogues here, and she knows them.
She laughs and jokes, but when she comes to our table to take our empty drinks and replace them, she has a small smile and a serious demeanor. She doesn't even glance at me.
My wolf was disappointed and started to whimper, feeling rejected.
-'Maybe she lied cause she's not interested,' my wolf said.
I saw my opportunity when I saw her head out. I took all the shots of tequila in a row, but I know it will wear off quickly for us werewolves. Outside, I sniffed around to look for her. She's in the alley to the left of the building. I saw her leaning on the wall with her eyes closed.
-"I've been looking for you," I said.
She squeaked, startled by me, and then blushed. I love her blush. But then I realized she's angry. She looked around, assessing.
-"¿Why are you here? Did he send you? I won't give you any more money!"
What the heck?
-"Look, I don't have anything to do with him anymore, and if you think I'm going anywhere with you, let me tell you this time I won't go without a fight," she said while changing her stance into a fighting position; there's fire in her gaze.
I put my hand up so she can see I'm not her enemy.
-"Woah, woah there. I really don't know what you're talking about. I saw you at the airport and then again here. I just wanted to get to know you," I said sincerely.
She narrowed her eyes, not really believing me.
-"Is this your first time in town?"
-"No."
-"How is it I haven't seen you here before?"
-"I'm a very busy man; I don't have time to go out," I muttered, looking a bit embarrassed.
She looked at me, amused, and said, - "So why is today special? Celebrating something?"
I saw her relax just a bit, but she was still skeptical.
-"Well, actually, yes," I said happily.
-"When I saw you again, I thought I could get to know you. I sat with your parents in the same row, we talked during our flight about all your work." I saw her hesitate and quickly added,
-"I just wanted to get to know you. Maybe become friends? That's all, I promise."
Her eyes softened a bit at that. She's considering it.
-"Well, he is supposed to be retired by now. I bet he told you all his biggest hits," she smiled shyly. My wolf was so excited my heart was about to burst out of my chest.
-"Well, I just want to hear more." I smiled at her. - "Would you like to grab a cup of coffee sometime? Or maybe dinner?"
Her face darkened, and I stopped breathing. What is wrong? Did I say something wrong?
-"I'll have to get back to you on that. I don't have much free time, but you can text me and we'll see," she said while looking at her watch.
-"My name is Nathan, by the way," I said as we exchanged numbers.
-"I'm really looking forward to being friends with you, Samantha," and make you mine I added to myself. I saw her face relax even more. She was amused I used her fake name, but she didn't correct me.
-"We'll see about that. I don't usually make friends with random people, but I'll give you a shot." She paused, looked at her watch again.
-"I should get going."
When I got back, I mind-linked Leo.
-'I think she IS running from someone. Maybe her husband, but I'm not so sure. Tom and Ramirez will watch her and her family. I don't want any surprises.'
We got ready to leave at 1 AM. My gamma's and delta's mates were totally wasted. Leo was dancing with a girl he started talking to, and I was sitting there watching every move my mate made. She came to clear our table, and I asked for the check. I joked about how I thought she was going to kick my ass like that guy, and she laughed and blushed. I paid and asked her if she wanted a ride; she declined, smiling at me, and we all went out.
I told the guys to head home with their mates. Leo spotted the jerks that mistreated her earlier. I told him to go around so we could have them surrounded if they tried anything. I waited nearby for her to come out.
As soon as she started walking to the parking lot, they started following her, and I mind-linked him to be ready. I saw she noticed them, too, because she started walking faster. Then she did something confusing. Instead of crossing the street where the parking lot is, she turned left into a dark alley, and they turned left, too.
I walked faster after them, ready to fight, and the scene left me dumbfounded. She started laughing as she threw a front kick into one guy's stomach, shouting "This is SPARTA!" with all her force. I'm sure she broke his ribs. His head crashed into his buddy's face behind him, knocking them both out.
-"Please, guys, I don't want to embarrass you anymore," but the third one charged, and with her palm, she struck his nose. Now he's on the floor, crying like a baby.
-"Well, I did warn y'all." Then the other two came launching at her, and she punched one into the wall and held him with her foot on his throat while she twisted the fifth guy's hand in a weird direction and made him kneel. It's the same guy she made kneel at the club.
-"What are you doing here?" she shouted angrily at me like she knew I was there all along.
-"Umm... I was outside and saw them following you, so I came to check up on you, but I see you have everything under control," I smirked.
-'Wow, she's got some moves!' Leo mind-linked.
My wolf and I were swelling with pride.
-'Mate is feisty,' Shadow commented with amusement.
-'Leo, wait for me in the car,' I mind-linked my beta.
-'Don't f**k it up, man, you got this,' he joked, and I rolled my eyes internally.
