Chapter 21: Scary Ms. Patricia

*Author's POV* -"I need to speak with this man," she said straightforwardly. -"I'll speak with the rest of them before you do whatever it is you do with them. But this one, I'm taking with me," she stated, squaring her shoulders and looking up at him. -"You can do that here. We have a place for that," he stated, his voice deadly serious. He was Alpha Nathan now. She looked around her. She saw wolves and naked men around four naked and bloody men, with scratches and deep gashes on their legs, necks, chests and backs. She began to walk towards them while taking her phone out and calling her Dad. -"Papi necesito que me traigas una maleta, Cris sabe cual es. Dile 'El negocio familiar'. Ven con la camioneta. Te mandaré mi ubicación en breve" (Daddy I need you to bring me a suitcase, Cris knows which one. Tell her 'The family business'. Come with the truck. I'll send you my location soon). She hung up, still gazing at Alpha Nathan. He raised a brow, questioning her. -"I want to speak to them," she said, turning to the men waiting for an order. All eyes were on her, two men blocking her path until their Alpha approached. He nodded, and they stepped aside. She smiled at them. -"Like I said, you are all going to die tonight. But I had a good time, so I'm going to make you an offer: You can choose to be tortured and beaten by these men, eventually giving us the information we want before you die—I'd say in a week or so... Or, you can answer a few questions, and I promise to kill you on the spot, ensuring you won't suffer at all," she said, looking at them with her innocent and hopeful voice again. As they looked at each other, trying to decide, she turned and started to walk, but one of them spoke. -"What do you want to know?" he said abruptly, stopping her. She looked at him, giggled, and putting her finger on her chin, looking up as if deep in thought. -"Umm... Who sent you here?" -"Someone tipped us off that you were here. I don't know who. Chad (pointing to the unconscious man being lifted) got the call. He said we'd get paid if we scared you a bit, made you run, and nothing more. When we realized you were here with the Alpha, he wanted to try and go after him," he said. She read him, noting his micro-expressions. He was telling the truth and clearly against that plan. She saw the rest of them. -"When did he receive this call?" She turned to another, who shook his head. Her gaze shifted to the third man, who looked down. -"When?" Her voice had deepened further. -"It happened in the evening; it was super fast and unexpected. We had no time to plan. We were just wandering near the border when we heard the bike," he said, and the fourth continued. -"We slipped in during your men's shift change... we knocked out two wolves afterwards, but we didn't kill them! Then we wandered until we found you here." -"How much did this person offer you to 'scare me'?" It had to be enough for them to risk that much. But why? 'Just to scare her? That's strange. Why scare and not kill? Scare her from what? The werewolf kind?' -"Fifty thousand dollars, the orders were to scare you, make you run away, make you leave town. That's all I know." -"Thank you," she said smiling. -"Now close your eyes." She snapped the first man's neck without any effort. Leo tried to approach her but she held her hand up, stopping him. -"I keep my promises. Don't touch them," she said slowly. She snapped all their necks without saying anything else. Everyone was watching her. Leo was trying to figure out if he was scared of her or fascinated by her strength. Probably both. -"You can hand them over to me when my father brings the truck, or you can bury them off your land and provide the location afterward." She turned to Leo. He looked at his Alpha and he nodded at him. -"We'll bury them off our lands." He then turned to order his men, who shifted, to remove them. The unconscious man began to stir. Groaning, he clutched his jaw and winced. -"You b***h!, you broke my f*****g jaw." he said through gritted teeth. His wolf was already healing it. -"Oh, relax, man. There are 206 bones in the human body. That's just one," she said, heading towards him. She walked past Nathan without looking at him, intent on keeping her emotions at bay. She dreaded seeing fear in his eyes, or having him reject her as a cold murderer. She knew he watched her every move. -'Oh well he already met "Patricia"' She thought. She went to the man, he was being guarded by two big, muscled men. She saw him almost fully healed. -"Are you going to kill me now?" the man scoffed when he saw all his men dead. She giggled like a little girl, her hand hiding her mouth, resembling those shy Japanese schoolgirl characters. She looked at him, tapping her foot and twirling her hair. -"Oh no, I'm not going to kill you. Not until you give me what I need," she said, smiling excitedly. -"I'm going to have SO much fun with your healing abilities!" she said, thrilled and doing a little jig. His eyes widen. Seeing her acting so childishly while threatening him sent a shiver down his spine. The other men were feeling uneasy and they looked at Alpha Nathan. -"Take him to the dungeons," he ordered. -"Yes Alpha," they both said before bowing to him. She turned to look at him. -"I'll need two hours," she said quietly, her demeanor shifting once more. She was serious now, and a bit annoyed. He wondered why. She then noticed he had some nasty deep gashes on his arm. His left jacket sleeve was completely torn. She got closer to him and without thinking she took his arm. She examined the wounds, looking really close at how his wolf was already healing him. She didn't say a word, simply holding his arm close to her face, her curious eyes glued to the closing wounds. She bit her lip absentmindedly, then touched the rosy scars once they closed. The tingling sensation, a faint, warm buzz, made her lips curve upwards. He watched her silently, amused by her fascinated expression. Like a little girl at a science fair discovering a new experiment, her eyes glowed, wide and bright, twinkling even in the dark. She admired his healing abilities. Then, as her fingers traced the scars, he felt subtle, warm sparks course through his arm, straight to his heart. -"We need to talk," he said in a low husky voice. She cleared her throat, realizing she was still holding his big, well-defined, muscled arm, caressing it like a pet. She quickly moved her hands to her sides, resisting the urge to keep petting his arm. -"Yes, we do, Alpha Nathan. First, though, I need to talk to that guy and rule him out," she said seriously. -"Rule him out? From what?" He had a theory but he wanted her to tell him. -"I need to know who sent him. After that, I need a word with you guys. Please tell your men to allow my dad onto your land," she said, already heading for the motorbike. He walked behind her, unsure how to start the conversation. An awkward silence settled between them. She guided him effortlessly back to the bike, a fact he didn't even notice. She let out a deep sigh. -"What is it? Just ask me whatever's on your mind. I can practically smell smoke coming out of it," she said impatiently. -"What are you?" he said curiously. -"Human," She answered shortly, but after thinking a bit. "Well, maybe. I've never asked myself that question, but I guess we're more alike," she shrugged. -"How do you know about us?" He wasn't changing the subject. He knew he'd ask her again, but he had a brief window to ask quickly before he got busy. -"My parents. They've... interacted with your kind a few times. I've met a few werewolf women and children, but only in their human forms. Nothing more. I know you're territorial, have a hierarchy, and live in packs. That's pretty much it." -"Did you kidnap Tom and Ramirez?" he asked abruptly. She stopped walking, and he, being right behind her, bumped into her. As she lost her balance, he held her waist with his strong arms. She gulped, aware of him behind her, her hormones surging through her body. -"Umm... yes?" she replied, a hint of guilt in her voice. She lowered her head. -"I needed to know if you were sent by my husband," she muttered, her voice barely audible by the end. She then looked up, turning in place. "I promise we didn't hurt them. Ramirez had a harsh fall, but that's all. I promise I can get you the tapes," she said quickly, worried he'd be mad at her. He still held her waist. Looking down at her worried eyes, he saw her bite her lip. He almost kissed her right then, but knowing it wasn't the time, he simply squeezed her waist a bit. -"Fine, we'll discuss that later. I've already told my men to lead your father in. Let's go to the dungeons." She felt immediate relief, nodding at him. She gave him a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes as they continued to walk in silence.
