Surprise

Liam’s POV

“Come on guys. Do it fast” I shout at both Nora and Dylan as it’s getting late and Krystal must be arriving here at any second. Dylan called her asking to come here, saying that I got involved in a fight with some boys. So, to make me stop fighting she needs to come here, as I am not listening to others.

I have even involved her parents in this. None of us had wished her the whole day, I had asked her parent too at the morning a month ago, to pretend as if they have forgotten her birthday. Therefore, since the morning she has been a sullen person.

Glaring at all of us when we trying to talk to her. And that face of hers I feel bad for her but also having an urge to laugh out loudly. She is just too cute when she becomes angry.

My cell phone ringing brings me out of my thoughts and taking it out of my pant, I see her dad's name flashing on the screen. “Yes, uncle,” I say, picking up the call.

“We are here, she just entered inside. Be ready.” He says. I asked them to be with her so that we will have a track of her and know when she will reach here.

“Guys, she is here,” I say to both of them and switch off the light. I have planned the party at Dylan’s house as he lives alone and also his house is near the college. Due to which it was easier for us to make the arrangements.

We all are now ready to hide to surprise her. I stood behind the door waiting for her to enter the backyard. And then her voice comes, “Liam, Dylan, where are you?”

“Where the hell are you both? Liam, Dylan.” She shouts a little louder this time. Anger can be clearly heard in her voice, must be the irritation consumed since morning. “Why it is so dark here? Where are you both? Liam, Dylan”.

As I hear her footstep coming near us, I got ready with the snow spray in my hand. And the next minute the door opens, with her coming out of the house. As she crosses the door, I attack her with snow spray spraying all over her and we all shouted, including her parents who are enters the backyard behind her only.

“SURPRISE” She screamed loudly getting scared and shocked at the same time by a sudden burst of the crackers. ”HAPPY BIRTHDAY” Coming out of her shock moment, she looks around seeing all of us, and a smile takes place on her face, that too a big one.

“Happy birthday, babes.” Nora wishes her again giving a tight hug. “So, how is the surprise? I can say you are really surprised at the moment.”

“Thank You. And about this all, it's beautiful.” She replies,  looking around at the decorations. “When you all planned this? And how come I didn’t even get a doubt about it?” She asks, looking between all of us being emotional.

 “Happy birthday, princess.” Her dad wishes to give her a hug and again says, “All this is a master plan of your Liam. He was planning for it for a month now.” He said making her eyes fall upon me.

Winking at her, I say, “Pleasure is all mine. “

“For what? I haven’t said thank you.” She says trying to control her smile but is failing miserably.

“You haven’t said but I can read your mind, sweetness.” I say going to her and giving them a hug, I wish her a “Happy birthday.”

Suddenly, breaking the hug, with wide eyes she looks at me and pointing at me, “So, for this, you use to come to school that early every day? Forcing me to wake up early too?” she asks as if blaming me.

I nod my head in response and reply, “What to do? I can’t leave you alone to come to school, therefore this was the only way. I’m sorry.” And suddenly, she then again hugs me tightly making me and others smile but herself getting all emotional. So, to make her smile, I said, “Hey, don’t cry otherwise everyone run away looking at your mascara smudged.”

Chuckling, She looks up smiling at me, and says, “Thank you so much.” Pulling herself away, she hugs her mom as aunty wishes and kisses her. Then, she side hugs Dylan going to him.

“This is why none of you wished me since morning. I thought you all have forgotten my birthday. And when Dylan called me I already was so angry and upset. Upon that, he said this stupid got involved into a fight.” She said, smiling and hitting me on the head.

Listening to her, we all laughed, and then Dylan said, “Yeah, we can say that, your anger was sounding so clear in your voice.”

“Yeah, hearing your voice at that moment anybody will say that you were at the edge of erupting,” Nora said, laughing out loudly.

“Okay now, let’s go and cut the cake. I am already hungry.” Dylan says, making us all laugh. Then, we all move to the table for cutting the cake.

“Blow the candles first,” Nora says getting excited.

“And, don’t forget to make a wish.” She closes her eyes to make a wish and then blows out the candles.

“Thank you so much, guys. This is perfect…..I- I’m still surprised. You all are the best. I am just so lucky.” She said again getting all emotional.

“You deserve this all, sweetness, and even more than this,” I said keeping my arm around her neck.

“Yes, babes. You deserve it and don’t think it's for free. You will have to work even harder than us for our birthdays.” Nora says, hugging her again and then Dylan also joins us making it a group hug.

“I love you, guys. And, especially Dylan, thank you. For making so many effort for me even when we are not that close. Thank you.” She says. Actually, she is correct, Dylan and Krystal are not close like us. He is my close friend and only a few times he had met Krystal and Nora.

“I am happy to do so. And, that smile on your face makes my friend happy. So, that’s not a big deal, and this way only our friendship can also go to another level. Right?” He says, making already emotional Krystal become more emotional.

“Okay, come on now. Let’s go inside, it’s getting cold out here” Krystal says as we three are drunk now. Dylan and I are alright but Nora’s condition is not so good. She is right now out of control, blabbering, dancing. In a single word, she is behaving crazy, completely into alcohol effect.

And as usual, Krystal being a good girl, didn’t have the alcohol. “Come on babes, it’s your birthday. Have some fun, dance a little bit, and enjoy.” Nora says, pulling Krystal with her to dance to the music. Nora just becomes crazy after drinking, always.

“No, let’s go inside. Come on.” She pulls Nora going inside and shouts to us, “Boys, come in now. It’s late and you also had enough.” We both like a good boy follows her command and goes inside the house and slump ourselves down on the couch.

Oh, by the way, uncle and aunt got back to their house, hours before. Saying, “Okay kids, we will be going now. You all have fun, just be careful.” This is the thing I about our parents. They always understand us and gives us our privacy. Not making the situations awkward.

Krystal’s POV

I still am not able to believe these three made this much effort for me. I used to celebrate every year with my parents and Liam and Nora but like this one. This is one of the best birthdays I will remember lifelong. I was being all mushy when the lights were turned on and they surprised me.

Liam and Nora are truly the best, they both always try to make my moment or days better, and this time even Dylan was involved. We are not close, but he also does whatever he can when in need.

My mom and dad being involved in it. Everything was perfect, all according to my comfort and this clearly shows that the plan was done very carefully. And of course, if Liam took care of it then it has to be all as per my comfort. Everyone knows that I don’t like to be in crowded places, due to which they haven’t invited anyone even after making this much effort.

Everyone present here clearly likes big and crowded parties but for me and to make my birthday special they kept it small and personal. I am truly blessed to have such loving people around me.
