Another house that I remember was a 2-storey Glass House. There were 3 bedrooms with a toilet and a bathroom each. Unlike the White House, it didn't have any extra rooms for a library.
When we moved there, I was quite disappointed.
One, because of the fact that it didn't have a library. Second, it kind of creeped me out living in a glass house. I felt uncomfortable. It felt like someone was watching us, watching me, the whole time we were there.
I don't know if it was because it was a glass house or the fact that I was already in middle school when we lived there and I was just very sensitive when it comes to a lot of things, especially when it's about my privacy.
The glass house was nice and all, but I didn't really feel like it was a home. More like an aquarium. It felt like anyone could just peek into the house freely.
Oh, how glad I was when we finally moved again. Not that I like moving, but at least we won't be living in a glass house anymore.
I was relieved when my parents told me the news.
That was our 10th move.
“Tara, hurry up! We need to get going now.” Mom shouted from the bottom of the staircase.
“In a minute mom!” I shouted back while packing the remaining things I had in my bedroom.
“Tara, come on, it's getting dark soon!” Shouted Mom again.
“Okay,okay! I'm coming down.” I responded.
I stood up and picked up two small boxes with my things inside and went for the door, but before going out, I turned and faced my bedroom for the last time.
I didn't really know what to feel. I grew accustomed to moving, so I didn't really get attached to anything or anyone. But still, I took a last look, then turned away from the door and went down.
“Did you get everything?” said Mom.
“Yes, I did, Mom. Are we going now?” I asked.
“Yes, we're going as soon as you finish loading those boxes in the trunk.” she responded.
Without any complaints, I went to load the boxes in the trunk and then finally went to take a seat at the back of the car.
“I'm done Mom.” I told her as I was taking my seat.
“Okay, let's go now. We still need to pick up your Dad and brother at the dentist.” said Mom.
My Dad and younger brother went to see the dentist early this morning while Mom and I were busy packing and loading the remaining things we have at the house.
It's still an hour's ride from our old house to the dentist's, so on the way there, I took a nap while Mom was driving. I stayed up late last night watching movies and I ended up having just a few hours' sleep.
My body was so tired that I slept for about 3 hours. I didn't even notice my Dad and younger brother were already in the car.
As soon as I woke up, my brother immediately showed his teeth to me excitedly.
“Tara, look here! Look at my braces, they're so cool. Can you see the color of my rubbers? They're red!” Gleefully said my brother.
“Yeah, yeah. I can see it. You looked like you just had blood for your meal.” I teased him.
“No, I don't!” shouted my brother.
“Yes, you do!” I teased back.
“No, I don't!”
“Yes, you do!”
We continued yelling back and forth when dad interrupted us.
“Okay, stop the bickering you two. We're still far from our destination. Can't you two just quietly enjoy the ride without fighting?” said Dad .
“But Tara started it Dad. You even heard what she said earlier.” Said my younger brother while pouting.
“Yeah, I heard it alright. Tara, that wasn't nice of you. Now, apologize to your brother.” Firmly said Dad.
“I was just teasing him Dad.” I told him.
“It's still not nice. You're the big sister. You're supposed to be good to your younger brother. Now, go apologize.” Insisted Dad.
“Okay, I get it. Sorry Drew.” I looked at my younger brother while apologizing, only to see him sticking out his tongue at me.
I was so pissed but I just let him be. Besides, I'm the big sister, right? I'm supposed to be good to him.
I stopped teasing my younger brother and decided to just relax and take a rest. He stopped pouting too. It was finally quiet at last.
