Chapter Thirty-Two

1810 Words

“Come on.” As soon as they were already in front of the wall, looking for the hidden door there, Quinn gave us a sign that it is already safe to move on the other side of the tree to cover us from the strange people who came on this way to look for their food. We moved quietly and as fast as we could so no one could notice us. The tree has buttress roots that extend above ground and are able to hide us even when we are standing because they are huge. But to be extra careful, we bend down our bodies so no one could see us, but the dry leaves aren’t helping us to move quietly as we should. They are so dry that one step could make a loud noise, but thankfully those people are also moving on the ground and they were also talking too much, that’s why we’re being safe even just this once.
