Chapter 20
“He is following us!” Jonathan said with a quiet intensity, as he and Nathaniel ate breakfast together in The Figurehead.
“It seems so,” Nathaniel replied, looking around to see if Jonathan’s observation was correct. Upon not seeing Samuel, he continued. “He doesn’t appear to be here now.”
“I knew his attitude toward us had not truly changed. He is trying to catch us and expose us.”
Once again Nathaniel had to agree with Jonathan. He had more than once returned to work to find that Samuel had been there asking for him and asking if Jonathan had been seen there. On several occasions he had appeared at The Figurehead or on the docks when Jonathan and Nathaniel had been together.
