I was relieved when Tommaso was able to understand me, I was sure it will be the end of it, I wanted to tell him sooner but at the same time I needed my clean slate, I was me and my family being who they were didn’t change it.
I really was broke, when I came here 5 years ago my father did help me a few times, each time after one of my siblings told him I was strapped for cash and eating only crackers and whatever I could find discounted at the supermarket.
He never failed to remind me of it each time he called, whenever I had some extra cash I would send him some cash back, but it would appear back in my account that same day or the day after.
