The private room instantly erupted into chaos.
Director Parker roared like an enraged wild boar, his face bright red, and lunged straight at me. "b***h! I'll kill you today, I swear!"
I tried to dodge, but Florian wrapped his arms tightly around my waist. His grip was like iron, holding me firmly in place, yet his voice was terrifyingly soft. "Grace, stop this. Let's go to another private room and talk properly."
Director Parker leered and leaned closer, the stench of alcohol and bad breath washing over my face. "You know how to behave, Florian. You understand how to make opportunities for your superiors."
"Florian!" My voice shook. "Do you have any idea what you're doing?"
He avoided my gaze and spoke in a fawning tone to Director Parker. "Director Parker, she's just stubborn. I'll take her to the next private room and talk some sense into her. Please keep drinking for now... I promise she'll be exactly what you want in ten minutes."
I stared at him in disbelief. Was this really the same man who held an umbrella over me in the rain, who said he would always protect me?
Director Parker rubbed his hands together lewdly. "Fine. You've got ten minutes. If you can't sort this out, you'll both be out of a job and gone by the end of the night!"
Florian nodded repeatedly, then half-dragged, half-carried me into the empty private room next door.
The moment the door clicked shut, his expression shifted completely. He pulled a roll of nylon rope from his suit jacket pocket.
"What are you doing?!" I stumbled back in terror, but he shoved me hard onto the sofa. "Grace, don't blame me for this." He tied my wrists with practiced ease, his voice frighteningly calm. "Director Parker is my most important patron. I can't throw this opportunity away."
The rope bit deep into my skin, and I gasped in pain. "Have you lost your mind? This is a crime!"
"A crime?" Florian let out a cold laugh. "Where was that thought when you threw that drink in his face just now?" He pulled the knot tight, securing it firmly. "Don't worry. This is just one time. Director Parker promised me he would give you the Director of Operations position once this is over."
I twisted and struggled with all my strength. "Florian! My father runs Sutton Corporation..."
He roughly stuffed a napkin into my mouth. "Stop pretending to be some wealthy heiress! Just because you have the same surname as the owner of the company, doesn't mean you can pretend to be their family or whatever. You don't even own a decent handbag... who do you think you're fooling?"
Tears blurred my vision.
I finally understood, he never got close to me because he liked me. He only approached me because he thought a girl from a modest background would be easy to control.
From outside the door came Director Parker's slurred, shouting voice.
Florian wiped sweat from his brow and checked the knots one last time. "Be good. This will all be over soon. Tomorrow I'll buy you that necklace you've been wanting for so long." He hurried to the door as footsteps drew closer, then glanced back at me. "Don't hate me. This is just how the professional world works."
Director Parker's bulky frame filled the doorway, his eyes glinting with lust as he looked at me. "Good work, kid! You really know what you're doing!" He clapped Florian on the shoulder, while his other hand fumbled eagerly with his belt.
Florian stepped back and stood with his head bowed, like a loyal, obedient attendant.
"Mmph! Mmph!" I thrashed and shook my head as hard as I could, the sofa scraping loudly against the floor.
Just as things were about to get much worse, the door was suddenly kicked wide open.
A tall, imposing figure strode in, followed by more than a dozen bodyguards. "Who dared lay a hand on my daughter? Cut off their hands!"
