Four moons, each smaller than Earth"s moon, lit the glen as though the first and most important sun, Daemon, blazed in the night sky. Beyond them sprinkled stars of such immensity and so numerous that mortals" ancestors, when they landed millennia ago, bowed in awe as they stood in the cinders left by their ship. In the distance, hedges stood silver against the sky-scraping spires of the Palace. Moss that served as benches lined the clearing.
