Chapter 20

955 Words

Sophie received information on Cynthia Abbott the very next afternoon. The illness she had, the hospital she was in. Seven years old, born with a rare kidney condition that required constant dialysis—that was how Mr. Abbott found himself in a perpetual need of extra income. He had applied for a kidney transplant, but the waiting list was long and uncertain. Not only was he waiting for a donor, he also needed to make sure that it was a match. His wife, Lydia Abbott, was actually in the picture. For the sake of their daughter, she was willing to take overseas job opportunities. She worked in the medical field, and was constantly pushing for contacts with all the organ transplant organisations she could find. All in all, it was a gruelling situation for a couple with such a young daughter.
