Amber sat with the girls on the bed again, they'd gotten their supper. When Sally offered her some of her food, Amber had told her she was fine. They hadn't brought her food. A car had stopped outside about an hour ago, but no one came to see them again. She figured Ava would talk to her soon enough. Whoever had arrived was obviously more important. She could hear voices but couldn't make out who it was, or even if the new arrivals were male or female. Amber had hoped for a moment that it was their rescuers arriving but after a while gave up on that hope when no one came to rescue them.
