I was sitting across the room with one of the numerous women I had at my beck and call, slowly grinding on me when I caught sight of Amelia. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. Her dress clung to her skin and made evident her curves. I saw when the drunk dude moved to her and could not take it anymore so I shoved the girl sitting on my lap away and walked towards Amelia.
When I shoved the man away, and met eyes with Amelia's emerald green ones. I knew I had to have her. I gave her a quick once over when she introduced herself. I noticed the defiant look in her eyes, and an idea came to my mind.
"Marry me." I blurted out.
"What? She gasped out.
I could not believe what I just said. I did not think I was ready for marriage. However, I knew the woman standing before me would not want to sleep with a man she had just met in a bar. She seemed like the innocent type.
"Marry me." I repeated once more.
This time, she regained her composure, crossed her hands and asked.
"I don't know. How can you ask that from me and why? She inquired in a surprised tone.
It was a good question and argument but I was not prepared to tell her that the bodycon dress she wore made it difficult for me to think and that I would like to have to myself even if it was for a short while. Plus, my mom had been pestering me about a wife, saying how she wanted me to have a grandchild. Amelia would fit into that role perfectly. Although I would not get her pregnant, I just wanted my mom to let me be for a short period.
‘’I am in need of a wife. The marriage would last for a year. You will be paid a huge amount of money and a contract will be sig...”
“Hold on,” she interrupted. “I just met you and I barely know you.”
“You do not need to. We are not getting married to be friends. You’ll only be answering the title of a wife and satisfy my s****l urges when needed.”
“Do I look like a w***e to you? She asked in an exasperated tone.
“Was that the only thing you got from what I said? I asked with a twinkle in my eyes and a trace of mischievousness in my voice.
“I’m sorry but I cannot do what you are asking of me” with that, she walked away and toward a man at the other end of the bar.
I watched her whisper something to the man and he walked out with her. I need to find out everything about her. I dialled a number on my Iphone, after a few rings, a voice called out from the other end.
“Hello boss” my private detective’s voice called out, I could hear ruffling sounds but ignored it.
“Get me every bit of information that you can get on Amelia Brown. Her family, friends, love life, everything.
“Yes, boss,” he responded.

"He asked you to marry him?! Jade screamed out in a loud voice, so loud that her voice cracked.
"Ouch, careful Jade, keep up with the screaming and you'll burst my eardrum.” I hissed out. It had already been two days since the incident at the hotel happened. I decided to tell my best friends about the proposal. And, they were not taking it well.
"Sorry, I'm just so surprised."
"Why would he do that? Michael asked.
"Same question I asked him." I replied. I looked over at Michael and caught sight of his jaw, held so tight and his fist clench and unclenching. Was it just me or was he taking this situation way more seriously than I would. I thought but I overlooked it.
"Maybe he was talking under the influence of alcohol". Jade proposed.
I thought about it, he didn't seem drunk to me. When he saved me from the strange man, he looked fine. However, I couldn't give a good reason for his sudden proposal. So I just settled for what Jade said.
"Maybe." I settled.

"What do you mean the banks sent a memo to confiscate the company's stock, we promised to pay them soon." I inquired from my secretary in an exasperated tone.
I was at the verge of losing everything and I was this close to having a meltdown.
"The banks said they had given us enough time, and would like their payment in three days."
“Give me a moment, Shane.” I managed out as she nodded in understanding and left the room with a soft click. My head dropped to my palms immediately after she left. I grabbed a handful of my hair as tears fell freely from my eyes.
‘Why so suddenly, this is not the agreement.’ I was panicking already inside of me. According to the initial agreement, we still had six months to cover the payment so what changed.
"My cries were interrupted by a call from a strange number. I fought between picking it up and letting it ring to continue my sulking. After much consideration, I picked it up.
"Hello? I asked, as I struggled to hide my trembling voice.
"Hello, Amelia. Remember me? A strange but familiar voice asked on the other side of the phone.
