Chapter 2: I Lost Him

~~RIYA~~ “Where are you coming from?” Dad asked, his elbows folded as I appeared in front of our old bungalow. My breath hitched, but I faked a smile. “From our workplace, dad. I texted you yesterday.” “RIYA, WHERE. ARE. YOU. COMING. FROM?” he reiterated, his cold obsidian gaze pierced into mine. A knot of panic spiraled into me, and it loosened the moment I remembered Dad’s expertise in reverse psychology. He had used it on me several times. And I wouldn’t let it work today. “I’m coming from the workplace, Dad. I can even show you the website we created for the client overnight.” My fingers quivered to unzip my bag, aiming to bring out my laptop. “You can’t fool me, Riya. I called your boss last night,” he revealed, and my ears were struck with disbelief as he played the call recording. “Where would she have gone to?” my boss had said. “I released her at 5 p.m. yesterday.” Dad’s nostrils flared outward and his eyes darkened while my body quaked like a car undergoing servicing. “Since when did you start lying to me?!” Guilt settled on my skin like dust. I wanted to reply that the previous night was the first time, but words caught up in my throat. “I was with–” “Don’t bother,” Dad interjected in a low abrasive tone and stretched his phone to me, “I knew where you were.” Collecting the phone, fear brewed inside me when I saw a file and read the caption, which said, “I HAD A GREAT TIME THRUSTING INTO YOUR DAUGHTER’S HOLE”. And an arrow of betrayal penetrated my soul when I clicked on the file and the video of a lady sucking a guy’s d**k came into display. Oh, My Goddess! There was a hidden camera in the hotel room? The lady in the video was me, and Raymond’s face was blurred all through. No wonder everyone was gawking at me and whispering to themselves when I was trekking home. “I... I...–” My voice faltered with tears and I collapsed to my knees, grabbing my dad’s legs. “Dad... I’m sorry. I can explain.” Dad kicked me with force, and my forehead collided with a stone, causing blood to trickle down my face. “I never wanted a female child,” he began, “But I accepted you because my queen loved you. She faced hell during your pregnancy and it’s unfortunate your birth caused her death.” A drop of tear slid down his eyes and I felt miserable seeing him this way. “I forgave you, Riya. I loved you despite the pain your existence caused me and tried to become the best dad for you.” He sniffed, “I also succumbed to my Beta’s defeat so I could focus on nurturing you. And after everything I’ve done, is this how you’ll repay me? By defying my rules and allowing my enemy to deflower you?” “D-dad, I can–” He cut me off in a pain-filled voice. “From now henceforth, I cease to be your dad. I can not continue to father a child who has brought nothing but pain and shame to me since she’s been born.” My wolf squealed with unhappiness, and every attempt to plead proved abortive. Before I knew it, Dad flounced into the house and flung out my belongings. Then he declared before shutting the door in my face. “I disown you, Riya. And the day you step into this house will be the deadly end of you.” ****** Love ended me. No, Raymond Beckson ended me. With just a call, I fell into his trap and lost my family plus the little pride I had. How stupid of me! Now, I had nowhere to go. No friends to help and my boss would not accommodate me. Dad had called her never to help, but she gave me my salary and added some money to it. As I glided toward the bus stop, dragging my feet along the pedestrian walk with my bags strapped on my shoulders, a loud moaning sound elicited above me. Curious, I lifted my chin and my eyes met with humiliation, seeing the video of blurred Raymond thrusting into me displayed on the billboard. Tears glazed my eyelids. It threatened to spill and I let it flow. What was Raymond deriving from this? Had he not tarnished my image badly enough? I didn’t even wear a face-mask. Onlookers were just stopping to give chide remarks and withering stares. “How amazing it is to find out that the daughter of our former WEAK Alpha is a w***e,” a woman taunted. “All your toughness only to end up screaming in bed.” Another person jerked my right arm, causing me to crumble on the tarred floor. The masculine voice was familiar. It was Drew, Raymond’s friend. Then two more shadows towered over me. Discovering who they were, I jolted to my feet. “You f*****g asshole!” I hollered, grabbing Raymond’s collar and connecting my palm to his cheek. “What the...?!” Everyone gasped. Andrew pushed me away from Raymond as their last friend snarled at the mob gathering around us to disperse. Raymond spat out blood and jeered, “Seemed your father disowning you is not enough. You want to be banished from the pack?” It didn’t surprise me he knew. News traveled around here so fast. But the fear of being banished engulfed my being. If another pack did not accept the banished person, he or she would become a ROGUE, and that, exactly, was everyone’s worst nightmare. Not minding the public, I fired, “I wouldn’t blame your mum for abandoning you. She knew this was how you’d turn out to be and ran for her dear life before it was too late.” A loud huff escaped people’s lips and Raymond’s cheeks flushed crimson with wrath. But the moment I thought the hand he suddenly hung in the air would land on my cheek, he dropped it and smirked with scorns creasing his forehead. “You do have a point, Riya. My mum abandoned me, but I can get to see her if I wish. Now tell me...” he paused and inched closer, “Is that not better than your dad, who’s already lying in his pool of blood?” My heart pounded frantically with worry. “W-what, what did you–” “Your dad has joined his ancestors, babe,” he blurted, and my breath ceased in disbelief as he tilted his mouth against my ear and whispered gruffly, “And the worst part was… he committed suicide… BECAUSE OF YOU.” My dad committed suicide? Oh, My Goddess! What have I done?
