Rescue Work

1455 Words
In the infirmary, Veronica directed the rioters, cuffing the last of the uniformed prisoners. "Captain, should we cuff these two brats too?" A team member asked her for instructions. Veronica swept the unconscious twins lying on the floor, and returned, "Of course they have to be cuffed, the most dangerous ones here are the two of them, they need to be cuffed behind their backs." Thinking of the fight just now, Veronica was still a little shaken now. Although this pair of twins were young, they were really black when they moved, and their moves ran towards the vitals. If it wasn't for her werewolf powers, she would probably have to be put down like the prison guards they attacked in the beginning, and after a few moves she stopped holding back herself. The rioters present all looked at the new captain with a look of admiration. Veronica had flung herself away from them in a headlong charge by herself, unable to even scream when the alarm had first gone off. They were a little worried that by the time they arrived they would need to collect the new captain's body, but it turned out that by the time they arrived, a large portion of the prisoners at the scene had already been knocked down by Veronica, who had long ago beaten one of the Twin Killers until he was foaming at the mouth, and was grasping the remaining one to throw him around with a large windmill, as well as smashing the other prisoner unconscious in the process. Thanks to the blessing of her being the first to charge into the enemy line and open up a matchless meal, the remaining prisoners had lost their will to fight, and the rioters who rushed in were able to control all of the rowdy inmates on the scene with little to no pressure. "Finally it's over ah ......" Seeing the riot calmed down, the prison doctor then patted his chest and walked out from the examination room. "Quite a few casualties have appeared yet, I'm counting on you for resuscitation." Veronica waved at her. The prison doctor took a look at the condition of the scene and almost spat out blood, "So many people!?" A large number of people fell on all fours, half of them were the guards who were attacked by the inmates in the beginning, the other half were the inmates who were punched over by Veronica, adding up to more than thirty injured, the Rosebud Iron Prison hadn't seen such a large-scale riot for a long time. But things had come to this, she could only take it on the chin. "All come and lend a hand, the prisoners are put aside first, priority is given to rescuing the guards. Help check and see if anyone is more seriously injured ...... Don't just move the injured first, I'll handle it." The prison doctor began directing the rioters on the scene to help. Veronica also helped to inspect the situation, and then immediately noticed the situation, "Doctor, the situation over here isn't quite right, come over and take a look!" The prison doctor walked over to take a look, and drew a breath of cold air on the spot. Several prison guards were lying on the ground, seemingly still conscious, but their bodies were stiff and unable to move, with only their eyes still able to roll. A significant portion of the skin exposed underneath their tattered uniforms had turned grey-black. "None of them seem to be able to speak, and their arms and legs have become as hard as stone." Veronica reported to the prison doctor. "It's petrification." The prison doctor's face was stony, "Cut their clothes open, be careful not to hurt the limbs ...... They'll be crippled if they break, pour some holy water on them first and see." She directed the rioters to take bottles of holy water from the medicine cabinet and poured it on the petrified skin of the injured. The spread of the curse seemed to slow down a bit, but there was no sign of recovery. "Trouble." The prison doctor's face darkened. The curse of petrification was an ability only possessed by some extremely rare magical beasts. Simple petrification could be lifted with holy water, but the curses of some magical creatures with deep power were not that easy to lift. "What should we do then?" Veronica also frowned. "We can only continue to use holy water to delay it for now, and go report to the warden immediately. Have to go to the Heresy Judgement Bureau to get help, there might be someone there who knows what to do." The prison doctor could only give this solution, if the petrification spread to the brain, by then, even if a way was found to lift the petrification at that time, the patient would become a vegetative person with no consciousness. "Alright." Veronica was just about to leave the infirmary when Aiden took a step in and met her. "Sir!" She subconsciously saluted, then quickly reported the situation, "Report sir, there was just a riot here, the scene is under control, but there are still wounded to be rescued, and someone has been hit by the petrification curse ......" "Hmm." Aiden nodded, "That's what I'm here for, I brought help." He raised his hand and snapped his fingers, and the guards following him wheeled a prisoner in. Prisoner 3340, Meru Kino. "As you can see, a lot of people got hurt because of what you messed up." Aiden squinted at Merukino, "Since you're well versed in pharmacology, you're here to help. The curse of petrification, you should have a solution, right?" He knew the information about the Twin Slayers from their files before, and after learning that the mastermind behind the whole riot was Meru Jinnu, he thought that someone in the infirmary might have already been hit by the Twins' petrification curse. That's why he brought Merukino here. Meru Jinnu's attainments in magical pharmacology were very deep, and her techniques could be used to harm people as well as save them. Mei Liujinu's face showed a few surprises, "Warden, do you even need to use a prisoner like me who wants to kill you?" "There are many prisoners who want to kill me, there is no shortage of you. I'm just asking if you have a way to save those people?" Aiden intensified his tone. "There is, but isn't the warden afraid I'll do it again?" Merukino narrowed her eyes. "You're a smart man for the time being, and as a matter of fact, you wouldn't do something stupid like that." Aiden returned expressionlessly, "Don't forget that you have already landed in my hands, you messed up in my territory, this account I haven't counted with you yet, today if the people under my hands have another long and short ...... you should understand it yourself." Merukino locked eyes with him for a moment, and finally withdrew her gaze, "Alright, take a piece of paper and I'll write a prescription." Aiden turned to Veronica, "You keep an eye on her, she's the main culprit in this incident, if she does anything untoward, don't take it easy on her." "The main culprit ......," Veronica looked at Merukino with a confused expression, "Is she?" "Yes, it's her. The group of inmates in the infirmary were directed by her, and she took the opportunity to break out with the other inmates and run over to try and kill me." Aiden explained the situation briefly, "I'll explain the details to you later." "You're okay with this?" Veronica was shocked. "Small scene, small scene." Aiden returned with a feigned relief. As a matter of fact, even though he had already learnt in advance that Dai Li and Arsenal would turn against the Meru Kino girls, he was still quite nervous when he confronted Meru Kino in the corridor. How can a person have so many moments in his life where he faces a life-threatening situation? He had been a prison guard for so many years, and it was his first time to experience a prisoner riot of this scale, but fortunately, he still relied on his years of experience in contact with dangerous prisoners to hold up the scene on the surface. The fact that he was able to survive until the end of the incident was, to a certain extent, thanks to Ivantha's resistance to Merukino's order at the crucial moment - if Ivantha had chosen to be their enemy, even if Dai Li and Arsenal were able to catch them by surprise, it was still unknown whether he himself would be able to stand here unharmed or not.
