The following day, Aiden came to the Core once again.
"Where was that werewolf assigned?" In the usual wash of curses, he asked towards Flender at his side.
"Room thirteen." Flanda replied.
"That's not ......"
"Yes, in order of admission, she was assigned a room with Phyllis the Phantom." Flanda nodded.
Aiden paced silently to the door of room thirteen, and immediately a silhouette pounced on the cell door.
"Lord Aiden! You're finally here!!!" Faye lay down in front of the bars and cried towards Aiden, "Quickly change the room for someone else, I don't want to stay with that murderer! She's too scary, she stares at me all the time wherever she doesn't sleep at night, making me afraid to close my eyes all night!"
"Shut up."
An icy voice with a threatening undertone came from behind Faye, frightening Faye so much that her shoulders trembled and she was instantly silenced.
Aiden ignored Phil and slightly angled his head towards the inside of the cell.
Veronica, the death row inmate, was sitting on her own bed with one hand on her knee and her back against the wall, staring deathly at the cell door. It was a fairly pretty girl with shoulder-length hair, only at the moment her eyes filled with violence completely ruined that beauty.
"So you're Prisoner 3308?There's no need to be so uptight, is there, your roommate is just a battle-less chimera." Aiden grinned at her.
"What's it to you?" Veronica choked him out without hesitation.
"I'm the warden here, Aiden." Aiden straightened his hat.
"Oh, it's the Lord Jailer who manages the scum, my apologies." Veronica's mouth dangled in undisguised mockery.
"Looks like there's another Lord who doesn't get along." Aiden raised an eyebrow.
"Prisoner 3308, straighten up your speech, you're in prison now." Flanda interjected with a stern face, issuing a warning to Veronica.
Veronica didn't have the slightest intention of tightening her grip when she heard this, a mocking smile still hanging on her face, "I'm going to die before long, so you guys can just bear with me a bit more for attitude and all that."
The corner of Flanda's eyebrow twitched, and after a moment of silence, she spoke, "Because you can't restrain your beastly nature, someone has already died at your hands. Since you can't do anything to undo it, at least repent in the only time you have left."
Veronica was stunned, and the smile that had been plastered on her face disappeared like an ebbing tide.
She began to glare menacingly at Flanda, and several seconds passed before she said in a single word, "Shut up."
"Shut up? Who are you talking to? Still think you're a mounted police officer?" Without flinching, Flanda met her gaze, "Get your s**t together, you're a prisoner now 3308, just a murderer!"
"I didn't kill anyone." Veronica said tautly, her lips quivering.
"That's basically what the inmates here say." Flanda was unmoved, "No matter how hard you mouth the fact that you're a murderer-"
"Shut the f**k up aaaaaaaaahhhh!!!"
Before Flender could finish, Veronica suddenly let out a creepy roar.
The next instant she lunged, landing hard on the railing, the shock of the impact echoing through the corridor.
Faye screamed and dodged out of the way in time to be spared.
"Don't talk like you know everything! If you're going to execute me, cut the crap! Just come on!!!"
Veronica growled as she gripped the railing and let out a beastly low growl from deep in her throat. In a flash of ferocity, she grew wolf ears and a mouth full of sharp teeth, and her two dark yellow beastly eyes erupted with a ferocious light.
This ferocious look made Flanda subconsciously take a step back, Faye cowering in the corner of the cell, shivering and not daring to make a sound, and only Aiden remained unmoving, standing in front of the cell door, locking eyes with Veronica at breath-smelling distance.
"Prisoner 3308," Aiden said nonchalantly as he stared at the scowling Veronica, "Back off."
He was answered by the loud thud of Veronica hitting the railing with force, and the beastly roar that came from deep in her throat.
Aiden sidestepped and turned to the opposite cell and shouted, "Daley, unblock temporary spellcasting access and come help!"
"With great pleasure, my dear Warden." Daley, the witch who lived in the opposite cell, smiled as she appeared in front of the bars, reached out from between the bars and waved her wand, her mouth chanting, "[Too busy ah my shadow, lend me a few hands!]"
As soon as the words left her mouth, the shadows beneath her feet suddenly surged as if they were boiling, followed by several pitch-black claws poking out of the shadows, elongating like octopus carpals.
Aiden stepped out of the way just in time to allow the claws that crossed the corridor to pass through the bars and grab Veronica by the arms, legs and neck, forcing her back into the cell and pinning her against the wall.
Veronica roared in anger as she struggled, nearly breaking free from the bonds of these black claws several times.
"Geez, this little sister is too energetic, she can't even hold down a Shadow Demon's claws." Daley lamented.
"Stop being impotent and raging, aren't you ashamed?" Aiden looked at Veronica and advised calmly.
Veronica seemed to have calmed down a bit and stopped moving, glaring at him with her back against the wall breathing heavily.
"Lord Aiden, you've seen it all, just help me change rooms!" Faye fearfully reappeared, "This guy is a death row inmate, a death row inmate, what can't she do when she's about to die? If you don't help me change rooms, I might get my neck bitten off by her today."
"Wow, why don't you just donate money to turn this place into a holiday resort, and stay in whichever room you want, with two hundred servants?" Aiden mocked without hesitation.
"I have the money if you want, I can give you a thousand gold pounds, just get me a new room!" Faye gripped the railing and jumped anxiously.
"Really!?" Aiden subconsciously exclaimed.
He knew that Phil had made a lot of money from pimping, but he didn't realise that she was rich to such an extent that she could casually throw out an amount that would keep a person fed for most of his life.
"Warden!!!" Thanks to Flanda's timely stern voice, Aiden came to his senses in time.
"I'm just ...... surprised." Aiden coughed dryly, then slapped his face at Fei'er, "Do you really think I'm an inn here, changing rooms whenever you want? Give me an honest stay!"
Feyre was a repeat offender of chicken thievery, accepting her bribe was the same as accepting her seduction, it was tantamount to actively handing over one's own handle to the other party, definitely not a wise move.
"Aiden-sama you don't think I'm dumping a big burden by dying, right, you're so cruel Aiden-sama! Oooh ...... obviously people have accompanied you like that, others say one night husband and wife, you have toyed with people for so many days but still treat them like this ...... " Fei'er suddenly pearly started wiping her tears.
"Fei can eat nonsense words can't speak nonsense, slandering law enforcement officers to their faces, you think you've been locked up too comfortably and want to go to the confinement room for a day?" Aiden couldn't help but blank Phil.
Veronica, who had already calmed down, slanted a glance at Aiden and let out a snort, "Heh, how impressive, Lord Jailer, no wonder you can control so many scums, it turns out that you yourself are the very best of the scums!"
"You believe whatever others say?" Aiden slanted a glance at her as well.
"Hmph, so the judgement says I'm guilty and the jailer-sama believes it? Why don't you release me?" Veronica sneered back.
"You want to say you were wrongly accused?" Aiden sneered, "Isn't that your side of the story as well?"
Veronica fell silent and looked away, seemingly uninterested in continuing the conversation with him.
Aiden stared at her for a moment, making sure she was no longer making a scene, before gesturing to Daley to put the spell back.
Afterwards, he turned to Faye, who was still crying, and lowered his voice, "You watch her for me, and in case she commits suicide or does something else out of the ordinary, call someone immediately."
"I'll watch her!?" Faye stopped her fake crying and glared at Aiden, "Don't be ridiculous, my lord, she'll be thankful if she doesn't kill me, please just change my room!"
"This emotionally unstable death row inmate must be watched. A little bit of hard work and good co-operation with us can reduce the sentence yo."
Aiden revealed a kind smile and reached out to pat Phil's shoulder.
"I'd still rather squat the full year then! Who wants to risk their life in exchange for a reduced sentence!" Faye cried out.
"Look at you, anxious to object to what, I'm not discussing ...... with you," Aiden laughed cheerfully, "This is the warden's order oh, honestly obey is, don't so much nonsense. "
After saying that he turned around and left, Flanda hurriedly followed, leaving Fei'er lying in front of the railing and shouting, "Don't ah! Lord Aiden, don't leave me alone with her! Don't go!!!"
"Later on, compile all the information you can find on this wolf girl, I want to see it." After leaving the core area, Aiden suddenly restrained his smile and confided in Flanda by his side.
