Kaydence was deep in sleep, her body curled up against the wall of her cell. She didn’t know what day it was, only that she had been down here for quite some time.
Wake up! Mists voice penetrated her subconscious.
Ugh, what? Kaydence groaned at her wolf.
Someone is coming. Sit up. Kaydence sat herself up straight, her absinthe eyes opening. She yawned and tried to stretch her arms over her head. They came to a halt with loud clanging of the chains attached to her wrist.
“Happy Birthday, Kaydence.” Alpha Darius’s voice surrounded her in the dark. Thank god it’s my birthday. That means I can get out of here and go wash off in the creek. Kaydence thought to herself. She turned to the sound of the Alphas voice. “I need you to prepare food and get the Dining Hall ready for our guests. Some will be arriving later this afternoon.” He spoke in an even tone.
“Callens Ceremony isn’t for a few days.” Kaydence spoke, her voice raspy.
“We’ve moved it up to tomorrow afternoon. Since we’ll have several wolves from different packs, I was hoping he could possibly find his mate.” Kaydence almost choked holding back laughter. She couldn’t imagine any wolf being dumb enough to accept Callen as thier mate. He was built like a child, had no muscle, and was hardly anything to look at. He had dusty brown hair and brown eyes. He was tall, about 6’ if she had to guess.
“Great. I’ll get started as soon as I’ve cleaned myself up a bit and gotten a change of clothes.” Kaydence spoke. She held out her wrists, letting him unlock the shackles. She rose to her feet with a groan, her back was healing faster than normal, but she was still extremely sore.
“You have 30 minutes to be in the kitchen preparing. Don’t be late.” Alpha Darius spoke, his tone harsh. Without so much as a second glance, she offered him a bow and took off up the dungeon stairs.

Kaydence felt much better having rinsed herself off in the creek and getting into a fresh pair clothes. She took one look at the bloody pile of clothes on her floor with a sigh. That’s one less outfit she had now, as if she need to lose another pair of clothes. On her way to the pack house, she threw her bloody clothes in the trash bin. She made her way inside and was met by the other kitchen omegas. They all huddled together in a circle, snickering at her as she walked to the sink to wash her hands. At least she would have some help preparing for the arrival of other packs.
After washing her hands, she took a look at the menu for the evening and sighed. T-Bone Steaks, mashed potatoes and gravy, Mac n cheese, and pound cake. She looked at the clock, it was already 11:30, she had less than 4 hours to get everything ready for this evening. She wasted not time and started preparing the steaks for the grill. She had the omegas working on potatoes and pound cakes.
It took her almost three hours to get everything cooked and ready to set out. As she went to head to the Dining Hall to set up, Gemma, the Alphas daughter stopped her.
“Mother gave me this list of preparations she wants done for everyone’s arrival this evening.” Gemma handed her a packet, a freaking packet, full of things the Luna wanted her to do. “Better get to it, wouldn’t want to get anymore lashing from daddy.” Gemma patted Kaydence on the back, causing Kaydence to grit her teeth in pain.
“Yes, ma’am.” Kaydence managed to say through gritted teeth. When Gemma skipped off, Kaydence started to read over the list, it was ridiculous. Where in the hell was she supposed to find gold plated name tags? It hit her, the party supply closet on the sub level floor just above the dungeon. She remembered they had extras from Gemma’s sweet 16 party. She read more of the list, figuring she could find most of the doecorstions in the party supply closet. She walked out of the kitchen towards the stairs, heading down to collect the decorations.

It had taken her an extra two hours, but she finally finished decorating the Dining Hall to the Lunas specifications. She stood at the head of the large dinner table, admiring her work. She gave it a solid nod and went to get all the food set out for thier guests.
As she was bringing the last tin of T-Bones out to the table, she caught a wonderful scent. It smelled like charcoal and rain. It was intoxicating. Just as she was about to question it, a tall, built male entered the dining room. Mist was running circles in her head.
Mate! Mate! Mate! Kaydences eyes widened as she looked the male up and down. He looked like a god, sandy gold hair, about 6’ 5”, large muscles showing through his dark blue shirt, and oh my goddess, those eyes. They looked like oceans. Before he could see her she set the Steaks on the table and made a break for the door. No way this is happening. She thought to herself.
Oh, it’s happening! Mist pranced around, singing her words.
You, hush! Kaydence silenced her wolf. Mist whinnied and finally let the subject go.
