Grayson Marshell, esteemed Alpha of the Marshell Lake pack, the largest pack in the Western US territory, sat at his desk staring down at a colorful invitation. It was a formal invite to Callen Dutch’s Alpha Ceremony in Dutch Mountain pack. He hated those low-life idiots. They were very poor excuses for wolves. After what they had done to Harloquin River pack, news spread like wildfire that they were widely hated amongst packs across the US territories.
Letting out a heavy sigh, Grayson linked his Beta.
Brooks, I need you in my office now, please. He cut the link, knowing his Beta was on his way. A minute passed, and there was knock on the door.
“Come in, Brooks.” Grayson adjusted his position in his seat, leaning back in his chair.
“What is it, Alpha.” Brooks face was riddled with concern. Brooks was not only his beta, but his childhood best friend. They had known each other since they were pups. Brooks knew when Grayson was on edge about something, even without his werewolf link.
“Dutch Mountain has invited us to attend Callen Dutch’s Alpha Ceremony.” Grayson brought his crystal blue eyes to meet Brooks green ones. A smile spread across his face as both him and his beta busted out into a fit of laughter.
“They don’t actually expect us to show, do they?” Brooks managed to say between laughs.
“I sure hope not. The last thing I want to do is see what that wreck of a pack is up to.” Grayson flattened his hand on his chest to ease his laughter. As he took a deep breath, he brought his attention back to the invitation. “I know it would be a complete waste of time to attend, but it would give us a chance to speak to the elders about ending our peace treaty with Dutch Mountain.” Grayson watched as Brooks expression changed.
“Are we sure we want to do that? Especially given what they did to Harloquin Rivers pack?” Brook raised a brow at Grayson. He had a point, they had completely slaughtered that whole pack in an ambush 9 years ago. Who’s to say they wouldn’t try to do the same to Marshell Lake once the treaty was null and void.
“You have a point, Brooks. But I also do not like the idea that my pack is one of two that still have peace treaties in place with that pack of murderers. I say we go and cut ties with them for good.” Grayson knew the strength of his pack was more than enough to hold off those idiots. Especially with their new Alpha in charge. He was dumber than a box of rocks, there’s no way he could take Graysons pack of over 1500 members down.
“You know I’ll stand behind you in whatever you decide, Gray.” Brooks nodded towards the Alpha.
“Alright, then, it’s settled. We leave for Dutch Mountain in the morning. Call Quent and have him get the private jet ready.” Grayson watched as brooks nodded and left the room. His pack was very prestigious, especially given that his parents were both pure blood Alphas and he was as well. They owned most of the territory spanning from New York State down to Florida. And as far East as Tennessee. He also was head of a large investing company that invested in several large businesses across the US and Canada. It kept money running through that pack, and clean money at that. There were several smaller packs that ran dirty money through their packs. They dabbled in arms dealing and a bunch of other risqué deals. It disgusted him. Shaking that thought from his head, Grayson stood from his desk and went to his room to pack for their trip. He was excited, to say the least, to finally wash his hands of that nasty pack.

Grayson was fast asleep in his room when the loud grill of his alarm startled him from sleep. Today is the day. He though to himself as he peeled himself out of bed to get ready for his flight. He took a long, hot shower, trimmed his golden beard and hair and brushed his teeth. He moved to his huge closet, picking out a pair of dark grey dress pants and a dark blue button down. He dressed himself and grabbed his suitcase. As he walked down the stairs, he saw Brooks ready to go and already waiting by the door.
Are you ready for this mess? His wolf Kato mumbled in his head. Kato was large gold wolf with crystal blue eyes and black tips on his ears and tail.
Ready as I’ll ever be, Kato. Grayson smiled to himself.
Maybe we’ll get something good out of this trip, perhaps our mate? Grayson shivered at the thought of meeting his destined mate. He was 24 after all, and most Alphas find their mates between the ages of 18 and 20. He hadn’t come across his yet. But he also hoped it wasn’t some sorry excuse of a she-wolf from the Dutch Mountain pack. He would rather live a life of solitude than claim one of them as his mate.
“Are you ready, Gray?” Brooks tilted his head, his emerald eyes burning holes into Grayson.
“Let’s get this s**t show over with, shall we?” Grayson smiled as they walked out the door. The drove to the private airport and boarded thier plane to Dutch Mountain.
