CHAPTER TWO: BETRAYAL

She couldn’t believe her eyes. It seemed too bad to be true, her emotions were getting to her, she was almost crying. But Sofia wasn’t one to breakdown so easily. She replied the anonymous sender saying: “ don’t you have anything better to be doing right now, huh?”

She decided to ignore it and just play it cool. But it kept bothering her so she decided she would call Brian and talk to him for sometime.

RING, RING ,RING.

No answer. She tried again, but still no answer. She stayed calm as usual, she never called a guy more than twice. She decided to call Alice then.

RING, RING ,RING.

No answer. She tried again but still no answer. She just sat there on her bed thinking to herself. “What if it’s true, then what?” .She asked herself.

“I will move on and leave it in the past”. She answered herself.

MOMENTS LATER…..

RING, RING ,RING. It was Alice. Sofia woke up with a start , she had fallen asleep. She looked at her phone, when she saw it was Alice she felt relieved, she answered it.

“Hello Sophie” Alice said in a faint voice, Sofia could barely hear her.

“Hey Alice” Sofia replied.

“You called earlier, listen I know it was your first day and I was supposed to call you to ask about your day but I was occupied and school was hectic today, you know it’s the first day.”

‘Was that an apology’ Sofia thought. She expected at least a “I’m sorry Sophie please don’t be mad” but it seems she isn’t even going to get that!! Seriously!.

“It's okay, so how was your day at school?” Sofia asked.

“Awesome, it was great”

‘She isn’t even missing me’ Sofia thought.

“Glad to …” Sofia was cut short by Alice

“I got something important to deal with, bye” Alice said.

“Bye”

Sofia was perplexed, something was off somewhere. Could it be true? She kept wondering whether to believe it. It was 8 o’clock in the night she decided to sleep.

NEXT DAY…

She woke up early, did her regular morning routine. As she game out of the shower she got another message notification, it was from the anonymous sender from yesterday. It was another picture. At first she thought not to believe it but then. She noticed something in the picture that shocked her. She decided to accept the facts before her, she decided to believe the whole thing and give up on everything. She didn’t reply the anonymous sender this time. She went down to eat breakfast, it was already set as usual. Then she got another message notification from the anonymous sender again but this time it was a video. She was scared, she feared the content of the video, she feared the truth. She wondered who the anonymous sender was exactly, why did he or she keep sending these to her. After eating she checked the video. Her phone fell off her hands. Her hands began to shake, her feet became cold. She opened her mouth in shock and as the tears rolled down she screamed:

“BETRAYAL”.
