Garret POV
The Vale Pack is headed by an i***t called Caspian.
Somebody who thinks so highly of himself.
I am staring at the letter he wrote back to me, a smile on my face.
Luca laughs. “It would be easy with him. So easy. Is this the threat he talked about?”
I shrug. “You can see for yourself. Who sends a letter when I killed twelve of his wolves? I was expecting something stronger. Something better. Not this,” I say, pointing at the letter.
Luca takes a seat beside me, dropping his pen on the table. “You said you went to his pack. You saw everything. The buildings. The companies. The oil ring. You saw where your mother was buried, right?” He asked.
“Yeah.”
“So what would be the next move?”
I stare at the letter as my mind roams around everything that I saw during my meeting.
My mother's grave on which he built his stepsister's house. The way they looked so glamorous was unlike how my mum looked when she left there.
I will never forget the memory. The rain poured down on our small shelter as I staggered through it, drenched in blood, holding a knife. How sad she looked when she slumbered tight in front of the house, taking her last breath.
After telling me three words, “Caspian... Caspian refused.”
Of course, Caspian never knew who she was. Who her son was. And he would never know.
I built this pack on my own. Collecting all the rogues and protecting them.
I may not be the Alpha of the wolves.
But I am the Alpha of the rogues.
And the rogues are way stronger than his wolves.
Why? Because they are angry.
“I don't know. But I need to get everything that I owned back, and for me to do that, I would need to get into the family.”
Olivia's face has been running through my mind since I left the pack. Her beautiful hunting eyes.
Fuck!
I would have had her. Just one more piece minute and I would have made sure I had her, begged, just to have her on my bed.
I wonder who the f**k her mate is.
But he is a fool.
A big one for leaving his mate.
For leaving someone as beautiful as that who sacrificed a whole lot for him just to be with someone else.
And worst thing, I still want her.
I stare at my phone, running my hand through it. What if she does not call?
Gosh, Garret!
You would have taken her number.
“Garret!” Luca snapped, calling me back. I turned to look at him.
“We need to find someone inside the family to infiltrate, and when we do that, we could get to Caspian. And kill him. Who is close by? His sister? No. His mother? No.”
“His wife,” Luca suggests.
“No,” I dismiss the thought immediately. “She would never want to cheat on him. Have you forgotten? They have been childhood best friends.”
Luca nods slowly. “Yes. But we need someone, and I feel his wife would be the best option. From what I heard, she helped him build the pack back, and even with the families that you killed, she sympathized with them, she slept in their house and tried to place a smile on their face. Imagine someone like that, the people love her. They would be by her side if she needed any help.”
“Okay. Let me see who this mate is. And if we could make her go again to her mate.”
Luca reached out for his phone and placed the photo in front of me.
My heart sank into my stomach. What the hell.
Immediately I saw the eyes, and I knew who she was. Or maybe she is not the one because everyone in the club has a mask on their face.
Maybe it's someone else's.
But those lips, those eyes. I can feel the sinking feeling that she is Olivia.
“What is her name?”
“Cassie. Cassie Devenport.”
I heaved a sigh of relief. “She is not the one. Her name was Olivia, not Cassie.”
But what if she lied?
“What happened? Is something wrong?” Luca asks, never in my fear.
I place the photo gently by my side. “I kissed a woman there.”
“You?” He asked and burst into laughter.
“Since when did you start kissing someone? The last time I remember, you have refused to touch a soul for the past three years, especially after Laura left you.”
I smile. “I did. I walked into the club to meet Grandy. Our spy saw this beautiful lady sitting there. If I'm being honest, I wanted to ask some questions, but…” I assume my eyes are falling on the photo again.
“She was beautiful. Too beautiful to resist. And besides, it was just a kiss. I asked her to call me and she did. I don't think she would even do it because she looks just like the woman in the photo. She looks like Cassie.”
Luca's jaw drops. He shakes his head, blinking profusely.
“I… you… Okay, this is so confusing, especially when you are kissing someone, but I think you have the wrong person, Garret. This woman would sacrifice the world for her mate.”
“Would her mate sacrifice the world for her?” I ask.
He remains silent, not saying a word. “Yeah, I never really thought about it.”
“I heard they are holding some cement in his house today. Why don't we go there?”
“And if it's her?” I ask.
“Claim her. Make her yours. If she is yours, she would be able to destroy him. Especially if he has betrayed her.”
I nod slowly, staring at the photo.
Olivia, I am coming for you.
