"Ah, before I forget, it's my mother's birthday tomorrow and she's inviting you. Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend because I have prior engagement that cannot be moved."
Alejandro handed me a fancy-looking invitation. I accepted it but my mind automatically went blank.
"Will you be okay on your own? Ask your parents to attend so you won't be alone." He suggested casually while putting on his shoes.
"They visited my aunt who's sick and they won't be back until next week." I answered dejectedly but I pretended that it was okay. "Don't worry, I'll be fine. You know me, hon. Parties are my thing. It's a piece of cake." I winked at him and he just chuckled and kissed my cheek.
