Chapter 2: Plans
Aryana
“So, what are you doing tonight?” Kaya asked, giving me a mischievous look as we were clocking out.
“I’m volunteering at the shelter and then going home to lay low. Why?”
“Girl, you're coming with me to the bar. You’ve been through enough s**t, and you owe it to yourself to go out and have some fun. Get a little wild and be free.” she said, looking at me like she was not going to take No for an answer.
“I don’t know. I’m tired as hell.” The bags under my eyes were a clear indicator of that.
“Take a power nap or drink some coffee or tea, because I’m not going to take “No” for an answer. I’ll pick you up at 7, we’ll get a bite to eat, then head out.”
I sighed, rolling my eyes. “Fine, but I don’t want to be out late.” In all honesty, I’d love nothing more than to go home, curl up in bed, and drown the reality of life out for a little while.
She grabbed my shoulders and shook them, looking me in the eyes. “Ari, you’ve got the whole weekend off, so quit being a p***y and live a little.” She grinned.
“Ugh, fine, but don’t bail on me when you get drunk and find a man.” I gave her a stern look. In return, she gave me an evil eye, then smirked. We headed our separate ways after that.

I went home and changed for the shelter. I get to play with the dogs and do any odd jobs they ask of me while I’m there. I find that surrounding myself with animals and nature brings me peace.
The shelter usually has me work with the more difficult dogs. They work better with me than anyone else there. It’s like we have an understanding. That’s just because I’m awesome though. Ha ha.

“Hey ma, are you home?” I asked, walking into the house. We have a decent size two-story home, not big, but not too small either. It’s just the right size for us.
“I’m in the dining room.” She hollered back.
I tossed my purse on the chair and made my way over to her. She looked up from doing her bills. “How was your day dear?” Her voice, so caring and filled with love. I love this woman with all my heart.
“Alright, how about yours?” I asked as I sat next to her
She shrugged, “ok, but Dustin stopped by the house looking for you.” I froze, and my heart began racing as panic started to set in. He doesn’t normally try to make appearances anymore.
“What did he want?”
“He was just wondering if you were here. When I told him ‘No,’ he wanted to know when you’d be home”
“What did you say? You didn’t tell him anything did you?” Worry and fear etched all over my face, as a shiver ran down my spine.
“Of course not. I threatened to call the police if he didn’t leave. It’s none of his business what you're doing with your life anyways.”
I sighed and relaxed a little. My mom only knows that we broke up and I don’t want anything to do with him. She has no idea what really happened though. “So, what are your plans for tonight?” She asked.
“Kaya is insisting that I go out with her. I’ll be home late, so don’t wait up for me” She nodded, then went back to doing her bills.
I ran upstairs to get ready to go out with Kaya, and found my phone that I had forgot at home. I had 36 missed calls and a few text messages from him. I didn’t bother reading them because it’ll only stress me out. “I need a damn vacation” I mumbled to myself. “What a f**k’n psycho.”
I hopped into the shower, washed up and shaved, I applied an Exotically scented sugar scrub all over my body. Damn, I love that stuff. Not only does it make my skin smooth, but it smells delicious too.
After getting out, I put some moose in my hair before I brushed and scrunched it, letting it air dry. Got to tame the mane, right ladies? I brushed my teeth again and reapplied deodorant. My Honey-Beige complexion has a natural glow to it, so I only applied a little bit of makeup to highlight my features and dabbed on some red lipstick.
I decided to wear boot-cut blue jeans, a tight red V-neck shirt (about the same shade as my lipstick) with short sleeves, to show off my curves, and black ankle boots with thick 3” heels. I topped my outfit off with medium-sized silver hoop earrings and a silver necklace with a small pendant that settled at the top of my cleavage.
“Damn girl, you look hot. You’re gonna get laid tonight” Kaya said, as she walked into the house. I tried to shush her, hoping my mom didn’t hear what she just said.
“Oh please, I just want to go and have a little fun. I’m not looking for a one-night stand” I said, rolling my eyes at her. “You, on the other hand, are definitely going to get some d**k tonight. Look at you foxy mama.” I smiled and winked at her. She was wearing a form-fitting black dress that reached her mid-thigh, ankle boots, with her hair down, hoop earrings, and a necklace.
“That's the plan,” she laughed.

“Bye mom, I love you.” I wrapped my arms around her, giving her a warm hug.
“Bye baby, be safe and have fun. I love you too.” She kissed my forehead. I grabbed a light jacket and a small purse, and we headed out.
